Crysis 2 Textures half the size of original + proof

For the people who are crying about the whiners in respect to the textures. These people actually have a reason to voice their opinion on the textures of the game. Modders from crymod.com have taken the quickBMS tool and extracted the textures from the game. Here you actually see that not only are the textures 1/2 the size of the original game, but a lot of them are actually from the original game. You can do this yourself by taking the names of the textures from the original and looking for them in the new one and comparing them.

Now this is probably why we will never have a Sandbox editor for Crysis 2. It proves exactly why they are hesitant to release it. They don't want people to "officially" figure out that they were to damn lazy to actually redo all the textures.

But this does allow us to use the original textures in their full form. Modders are already working on this. It's quite simple to do with the tool already out.

Many other threads with this very same premise with links to that very same link have already come and gone, in fact, the one I made was buried in less then 2 hours by all the 'Hackers' and 'Crytek, you still have fans' threads that pollute this site.

I gave up, I mean, it really is just a lost cause trying to prove something to these people. If they think Crysis 2 is amazing, and that anyone that says otherwise isn't a true fan, then there's really nothing we can say to convince them otherwise. It's sad really, I wish human beings were more like robots in this respect, ie, more willing to accept facts on the grounds that they are facts.

Do a little more research.

An HD texture mod made with texture from Crysis 1 would be 10 megabytes in size. There are only a handful of textures, all concerning grassy ground, that have been scaled down from Crysis 1. There are actually a few asphalt textures that have been scaled up.

Sizewise, the high res textures do exist in Crysis 2, they just weren't made active in the PC release for some reason.

We don't need your proof lol. I played the campaign, I know the game looks like **** compared to its 4 year old predecessor.

Don't get too upset when morons say c2 looks better than crysis or warhead. They are just dumbass 360 fanboys who never played the first 2.

But if that's the case, why the hell wouldn't they just pack the original nicer textures in and include an "enable HD texture" option or some ****? Even as an extra download like Dragon Age 2 did? WTF? Still glad I didn't waste $60 on this game.

The worst part is, they're dragging it all down for the rest of us. All these clowns like Borss constantly saying "STOP COMPLAINING" (ironically enough), and all there really accomplishing is the systematic degression of PC gaming.

It makes me sick.

Lots of people here are rightly outspoken when it comes to voicing completely warranted complaints towards Crysis 2. I guess if I posted between 50-75 comments here, that would be better somehow.

I agree m8. It's because people are either too gullible, too ignorant, or just plain oblivious. Or they actually keep posting Crysis 2 is better so it makes them feel better inside because they know damn well they paid a decent amount of money for a huge step back from the first game. So to balance that they have to rave about how amazing the game is.

Don't get me wrong I like the game, but is it better then the first one? NO **** WAY. Not by a long shot. But I do like it, and I can't wait until the bugs are ironed out so I can fully enjoy the experience. I mean I might as well enjoy it because I got it through steam and I can't get a refund. It's a good game but nowhere near the legendary Crysis 1 and warhead.
