Crysis 2: The Importance of a Demo - for all Platforms

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 9:31 am

Once again, to all. :)

Any information regarding to the possibility of the demo, would be nice to this point by now. The tensions have risen once again, and I cannot control it. Your all entitled to your opinion and choices whether supportive or negative. That's all I have to say. :) And it's good to hear that some of us are serious about this but that shouldn't be a signal to show improper behavior. The demo will have purpose for each of us. It would be more suitable for all of us to try keeping our selves in a stable civilized mind set for this demo discussion.

For Crysis 2. :)

Thanks btw black_angel for making this thread. :D

Just look at the people who agree with you :D
I want a demo aswell! I'm with Black_Angel 6.66!

*Shivers*...would love me some demo gameplay...

Seriously though, im buying day 1 regardless. Im just so damn excited to the point i think i have watched all the trailers, Dev diaries and gameplay vids a little bit excessively lol!
A demo would shut me up completely, and i will love it :D

I'm not worried about a demo. I'd just like to see some PC game footage. So we know what the PC version is going to look like maxed out in DX11, or does a PC version even exist?

That's a good question, but this is also why were discussing it in this thread my dear. As far as we know the tiff for Pc and Ps3 players has been in the shadows. And the need for a demo is coming sooner than we originally expected.

A demo is a jolly good opportunity for for pc players to see how their pcs can handle it. As for myself and others who use ps3 console to play certain games, a chance to see it in action. Though I own both kinds of consoles happily.

Why do we need more videos to show us stuff if we can
play the game and test it ourselves its a better way of
learning if you play the game.

Hey, don't forget about everyone else. We pc gamers arent the only players who want to play crysis 2. Have some consideration.

A sweet reminder. A demo/demonstration, gives its public/people a chance to see what their product can do. With a more hands on approach, as the people can use it themselves. The same goes for a game as good a Crysis 2, the graphics pushed the limit for Pc's and gaming for years to come. Crysis 1's demo was already a great gift to gamers from CryTek, so much was done with such a single level. Sandbox gameplay was forever re-defined. A demo for Crysis 2 would change the way we look at consoles, along with Pc gaming, if it was ever made.

Don't worry sweethearts, the same goes for ps3 console players too :D

A while ago I read an article about how video game developers were going to stop making demoes because they lost too much money. Recently, I have found this to be completely untrue. Almost all major games that come out for PS3 have had demoes on the PSN. Since crysis is such a big release I have a feeling they will do a demo as well. Especially since it is their first console game, they are going to want to entice those who have never played crysis. There have been games that I was not thinking about getting but after downloading the demo, I had so much fun I bought the game. So yea, it would be a good idea to have a demo for Crysis 2. I support this.

I think the author of this thread mentioned this a while back, but your version seems to be more digestible for me. Nice post! and this is also a good reason for why we need a demo once again.

Almost all the games that come out for PS3 have had demo's on the PSN when ever I'm interested. Since crysis is going to have a big release Im having a strong feeling they will do a demo as well. There have been games that I was not thinking about getting but after downloading the demo, I had so much fun I eventually bought the bloody game. So bloody yeah, it would be a good idea to have a demo for Crysis 2.

Especially since it is their first console game, they are going to want to entice those who have never played crysis like some of us.

I was hoping for a beta, then thought about a demonstration, but then when I thought about it some more I thought my true feeling is that I don't really want to see too much of crysis 2, rather keep it all a surprise for the moment I get the game for myself. That'll make it more exiting for that moment on march 22. Then again some hands-on experience might be needed to improve some knowledge of the game, other than that I think I can wait.

I've never actually waited anxiously for a game before, I can admit its hard waiting and knowing that my newest favorite game's sequal is coming out but still too far away.

My guess is that they don't have enough faith in their game if it went for a public demo. Bad Company 2 had a public beta and it was bloody successful in increasing sales, but controversial titles like Medal of Honor failed hard because of it.

Crytek should prepare with Crysis 2 demo before trying a hit-or-miss open beta hype multiplayer like what happened recently. I'm pretty sure Crytek probably wants to make sure that they nailed their demo just right for us.

Once again, I value all of your recent input/feedback here guys :)

From what I understand, all of your insights have been very helpful for this thread's purpose. Recent spammers and flamers have seemed to ceased as well. These are good signs for a well discussed thread on its importance in the future of Crysis 2. All attempts for further violence or direct attacks on individuals on this thread are on high regard.

We are here to discuss the importance of a demo. Not rush into it and maintain a strict mind-set for its reasoning.
Thank you, - Black_Angel 6.66

The original Crysis had a demo released almost a month before the release of the full game. February or early March sounds good. A demo is essential, especially since the game is launch for $60, even on the PC. I'm not throwing down that money until I can get a feel for what I'm getting.

Totally agree with hark on the point of getting what you pay for. I only know one company that is gutsy enough to make a pc game $60 and thats Blizzard.
