Crysis 2: The Importance of a Demo - for all Platforms

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:20 am

Well, now. I guessed they managed to keep my mouth shut for a little while. Until the Pc demo arrives, I shall return and help my fellow gamers thru crysis 2. Demo or nothing!

Some interestingly good news,
After yesterday’s announcement that the Crysis 2 Multiplayer demo (have you seen the multiplayer trailer) would be coming exclusively to Xbox 360 on January 25, we shot off a note to EA to ask about the possibility of a PS3 demo. As you might expect they declined to comment directly on that but they did provide an interesting bit of information that got us to thinking. We were told “Today we’re announcing an Xbox 360 exclusive multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 that begins on January 25th and ends on February 4th. We have no other announcements to make at this time.”

There you have it folks, the Xbox 360 demo is only running for two weeks. Crysis 2 doesn’t release until March 22, so that leaves more than enough time for them to release a PS3 demo sometime in February or early March even. It’s not much but it does mean that all hope isn’t lost. We for one hope that us PS3 gamers get to get our hands on the demo, I mean Crysis 2 coming to consoles is a landmark and should be shared by everyone we think. What do you think?

From and Courtesy of Crymod.com
(Hopefully this affects us Pc gamers too. )
Totally agree, this is some kind of good news to hear. Thanks black_angel!

I don't know if this will help black_angel. But it seems Crytek might be working on that Pc demo after all.
Hi guys,

The issues you've spoken about here I have raised internally. As I am sure you can appreciate everyone is extremely busy at this time with work on Crysis 2 as we're so close to launch, so an immediate response is unrealistic. When I have something I can share with you, you can be sure it'll be posted immediately in the forum. Having been around in this community for 2 years I am well aware of how strongly everyone feels on this matter and I wont let it carry on unanswered for long.

Good to know that crytek is taking us seriously. And that the 360 exclusive demo will only last for two weeks.

No matter what happens, this thread and its topic will remain true to the Pc gamers, Ps3 gamers and Xbox 36o gamers alike as best as what I can. Thus, let's try to continue this discussion as best as what we can and hope for the future of a Crysis 2 demo for other platforms. The more and more piling reasons on this thread alone are astounding. As it still continues to grow each passing day. The future may not be certain for us, but there is no fate but what we make.

From 25 January 2011 Xbox 360 owners get a first taste of Crysis 2nd The multiplayer demo of Crysis 2 catapults players into a Manhattan at war. Nestled amid the reconstruction of New York City, two teams fight to the death with the use of the forces of Nanosuits that makes its wearer fast, strong and invisible.

The multiplayer demo of Crysis 2 contains the card's skyline, and the game modes Team Instant Action and the crash site. The multiplayer mode Crysis from Crytek 2 was the UK, which developed specialized studio Crytek on multiplayer, and includes six game modes and twelve maps, based on known locations in New York City. Throughout the campaign, players can win up to 50 multiplayer ranks and several upgrades to their weapons and the Nanosuit.
You can't stop reading this, and not act on it. It drives some of us crazy to just read this, but this is also a valuable lesson to behold. Never ever try to repeat this kind of mistake with any community.

Next thing you know, people are saying that this is nothing to be worried about even though these are ignorant signs. Almost all media shown are of the Xbox 360 version, Crytek announced a game exclusive to the Xbox 360, the beta was released exclusively for the Xbox 360, and now the demo is being released exclusively for the Xbox 360. Crytek is clearly in bed with Microsoft and this can only mean bad things for the people who brought them here in the first place: Pc gamers.

Watch them blame poor PC sales on pirates instead of realizing how poorly they're treating their original PC gaming fans. This will happen.

Watch as 2 teams of 6 go head-to-head with the strength, agility, and stealth that only a Nanosuit can offer. Beginning January 25th, you too can team up online and Be The Weapon in the new Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo exclusively on Xbox Live.
Did they ever think about the consequences of making this a reality to the xbox people?

From what I have noticed lately, Crytek seems pretty intent in keeping it this way. What's very odd is that Microsoft made the Xbox 360 console system and The Windows Os for most pcs. Why werent they able to launch a Pc demo with such support?

Maybe Sony would have a made a difference if they got to Crytek earlier. The Ps3 users, including myself might not be so disappointed.

I think its EA giving back to the console since the PS3 has been getting some EA love with Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor and Portal 2.

Also EA is showing the boot to PC users by not only giving no PC support for the MP demo BUT no PC demo for even Bulletstorm!

But Battlefield 3 shows to have PC support all the way.

So at the end, EA is a weird beast.

Right now, a demo would make waiting until march more comfortable. It's sandbox so we can play it over and over and over again, and still have fun. But I think they have to optimize the whole game in terms of Pc graphics, bug destroying and finishing up a whole level with an open end. And think about it immediately.

It's money versus us. Guess who had the money? Ea games. We do the research for their game and they sell it to who knows who?

Maybe we should get back to discussing about a demo for the Pc and Ps3 about now. Its already sad that the way to make more sales from both ps3 and Pc owners have decreased because of the 360 exclusive behavior. People are already cancelling their PS3 pre-orders because they are worried about the quality of the ps3 version due to the no showing aspect of it along with the pc orders which by my count might have dropped by a few hundred buyers who are aware of the 360 exclusive situation.
Has Crytek even addressed this little piece of havoc?

Some of the questions the community wants answers to:

Will we see every platform get a demo eventually?
Will the PC get DX11, dedicated servers, and modification support?
Will we ever get some PC/PS3 footage and screenshots?

The time has come for this game to finally be marketed like the multiplatform game it is. Most of the fanbase has lost faith in Crytek's ability to deliver the goods with Crysis 2. I myself, have canceled my pre-order due to a lack of information and beta/demo for the PC and PS3 versions of this game.
Someone managed to have the nerve to ask? But who answered?

I think a Community rep. answered these questions in the wrong direction yo cut us off. The way he answered this on another thread was plain stalling tactics and not very encouraging.

The only person who could have answered their questions is no other than Cry-Tom, he can be trusted. He was at the old site way before this one. Also, he is mostly speaking for himself on those matters because crytek won't be so enthusiastic about these forum activities.

Another reason for the demo to be necessary for the PC is because we are not fully informed if we can run it well yet, and a demo gives us enough time to upgrade if a problem is present. Also, I think that Crysis 2 has changed so much in terms of gameplay and design that we really do not know much about the sequel on PC. There could be many people that loved Crysis which will hate Crysis 2, and vise versa. I think that a demo would be beneficial for the PC also, but I agree that the PS3 is dying without one right now.
