Crysis 2 - The Rock, the Hard Place and the PS3

So I was right to cancel my pre-order. If all of this is true then all I want to know is how/why would you treat a community with a base of 48.9 million users this way. Nice job Crytek.

I've been worried though. It's unusual to go so long and so close to a game's release date without seeing every version, and I've been told several times to expect the PS3 version. But it never emerged. This week at the Game Developers Conference we were made a final promise to see the PS3 version of Crysis 2 after the announcement of its multiplayer beta on the system launching March 15th, and I spent about half an hour with Crysis 2's multiplayer on the system.

The verdict? Not so great, unfortunately. The performance of the PS3 version is pretty underwhelming. The framerate is frequently low and choppy. There are jagged lines everywhere, and shadows are especially messy. There's a muddiness to the graphics that's hard to stomach in the wake of the PS3's other flagship showpieces, and worse, the variable framerate really hurts controller response.

Why don't you wait till the 15th and have your own opinion of the game?

It must be harder to port from Xbox to PS3 than from Xbox to PC.

What happened to all of the reports we heard months ago about the PS3 version performing better than the 360?

Most people that go on the internet are fickle people.

here is a video from gamespot showing ps3 multiplayer at GDC...8 minutes worth and I don't see any framerate issues or "jaggies"

That is a different showing from gametrailers. Let me know if you guys see any issues besides the obvious popins because there are pop ins on the ps3 and xbox 360.

Stay calm buddy... in some older hands on reports the Pc version has been called laggy by the press and some even talked about disastrous performance on high end pc gaming machines..... now the demo... everything is fine in performance.. wait and see.

i think ign are a bunch of m$ homers. so they can svck a fatty. i watched the clips and didnt see a damn thing wrong with the ps3 version. i was going to maybe invest in a 360 to play online with my friends, but that doesnt look very promising. so i will stick to ps3 version.

Let the OP not enjoy the game. If he's ignorant enough not to at LEAST find a reviewer he consistently agrees with, he deserves what he gets.

I never trust a review.

I was worried also when I read that article. Then, several things came to my mind:
1. Ign tends to lean towards the Xbox

1. Ign tends to lean towards the Xbox
2. Crytek themselves may have already seen this and maybe that's why they delayed the multiplayer demo for PS3
3. The multiplayer demo comes out March 15 and if those issues are still there I'll just cancel my pre-order. Why cancel my pre-order based on someone else opinion. When I can see it for myself.
4. I doubt Crytek would release Crysis 2 for the PS3 with those type of issues.

IGN is fricken stupid I saw some PS3 gameplay and it looks great! I don't think CRYTEK would allow CRYSIS 2 PS3 version to be crap compared to xbox360 that would be dead wrong of them but I'm no longer worried about that cuz its going to be awesome just like the xbox360 version right CRYTEK?

Alot of video gaming sites employ individuals who don't always put alot of attention or thought into their work. I get the distinct impression this guy didn't like the way the ps3 version looked because they were playing different maps that didn't have the bright afternoon sun and lots of shiny stuff all around them.
