Crysis 3 on 2 x Titan SLI

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 6:36 pm

Hi guys,

I have what I considered to be a fairly hi-spec system, including 2 x titan cards.
I had expected that this system would allow me to play the game on full settings for all graphics without a hitch, however I have just reached "Root of all Evil" and I am noticing a drop in FPS.

I am running the game on a U3014 30" monitor @ 2560x1600, so this will no doubt require some extra power to perform properly.

Should I be experiencing this loss of performance?

Thanks.

That resolution will def bring your titans down, especially when you go into a large open map. Maybe you can tell us more info, like what your FPS were and what they are on that map.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the FPS during root of all evil appears to be mostly in the low 20s.

My CPU is a i7 3970X.

Well you dont have a bottleneck but you can check gpu usage to make sure theyre at 98-99%. The Titian is only slightly better than a gtx 780 considering the vram is double, yet the 780's (some) are clocking much better. Considering the 2 mostly equal youre asking a lot from that resolution on ultra/max aa/high res textures so that may be where you lie under super heavy gpu loads in this game. If youre rolling with a 3970x then Im assuming youve checked the obvious: sli working, latest drivers etc....Youtube vids show a 3930k with 2 titans on just 1080p ultra all settings yielding 60-90 lows and peaks with average 70's so I'm betting even with your extra vram it's not enough to completely sustain high fps' at your res........

Low 20's seems a bit low for that setup. Here you can see a single gtx 680 gets low 20's on very high settings with smaa 1x: http://www.techspot.com/review/642-crysis-3-performance/page5.html

Can you confirm that sli is working? Also what method of AA are you using? What happens if you lower the resolution?

Also make sure you've installed the latest patches as there was an issue with ropes causing severe frame drops in the 1st level and in root of all evil level.
