Crysis 2 unplayable on XBOX 360

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 11:53 pm

Ok this is getting out of hand. This thing is constantly crashing my XBOX. It's a miracle if I can play for 10 minutes without the whole thing locking up. And then when I do get to play, I have no idea what's going on because half the textures don't seem to load: objects are either completely invisible, or they're textured with a test pattern consisting of multiple colored squares.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any known fixes?

Yeah it's on my HD. I tried removing it then reinstalling it but it didn't help at all.

Hm, weird. I have installed my game on the HD and it runs damn smooth! Maybe clean your cache and try to play it again. Do u have the problems in SP and MP?

Google's your friend.

On another note, why even install it on a console? It's not a PC. You play the game directly off the disc...
What is this, arcade?

I just assumed it was always best to install games on the HD. The 360 gets so damn noisy when running a game off the disc.

It keeps the box cooler. The extra heat from the CD tray can trigger the RLOD given enough time - So I was told when I purchased mine.

It should always access data quicker from the HD, as apposed to the DVD ROM.

Look at your Crysis 2 game save file and see if it is corrupted.

If your xbox is over 3 years old, take it apart and dust out the internals. Or if your good with electronics, replace the heatsinks and add some cooling systems.. Sounds like your xbox has heat issues if it's locking up on you.

Before you take this step....Try these: 1. Make sure that any game files that you have are not corrupted 2. Clear your HDD cache 3. Try other games and see how they run. This will test if its a hardware failure or software issue. If all else fails...call Microsoft support for a console repair. You NEVER repair the consol yourself. It ruins the console warranty. Assuming that you have one.

I've been having huge issues with the game today after the weapon fix. Game plays fine if I'm not hosting a multiplayer game, but as soon as I'm host, it freezes.

I too have installed to HDD and have never experienced any crashing/hardlock-ups...I think the OP has a rare issue and needs to check his hardware. Do you keep your xbox in a well ventilated area...maybe it's overheating?

good luck.

What he said. Most of the older xboxes ( he says his is about 4 years old ) have larger chipsets and lower quality heatsinks, which is why their failure rate was around 50 percent.. Newer xboxes don't have this problem..
