Crysis 3 is UTTER GARBAGE

Post » Mon Apr 15, 2013 8:16 am

I loved Crysis 2, really enjoyed playing it once I had enough PC power.

I recently installed Crysis 3 and the first thing I noticed was absolutely HIDEOUS performance, utter garbage.

My PC Specification:

i5 3570k @ 4.6Ghz
2x HD 7970 Crossfire
8GB 1800mhz RAM

I have turned the all details to medium and it makes absolutely no difference, GPU usage is not even close to being taxed and I am unable to get 60FPS.

I have stopped playing at the part where you go outside with all the green grass as performance is beyond hideous and I cannot explain how gutted I am as I was so enjoying it a little earlier on in the game - now I cannot play it at all.

I have spent two days googling and trying various BS techniques to get this BAD game to run at 60FPS.

I am open to suggestions.

I must point out my PC performance is rock solid I benchmark fine and BF3 runs to ABSOLUTE perfection, I even tried a format and I am using the latest beta drivers from AMD.

I really am devastated by this.

Use 13.1

The current Beta drivers are blow-ful.

Its probably something in your configuration that is weird. You shouldn't just assume its the game lol. Drivers and other configuration stuff can have an impact.

I have
i7 980x @3.8ghz
2 x HD 7970 Crossfire
12gigs 1600mhz ram

The highest FPS I can get on low 1080p in multiplayer is 160 average, 130 min, 188 max. Single card I can get 120 average. I also get solid 60fps on very high everything max in multiplayer with radeon pro tool and dynamic vsync @ 1080p. I get 90fps on very high as the average otherwise, but it runs crazy hot.

1.) Crossfire is buggy with crysis, you might need to alt tab to get crossfire to activate.
2.) What are your card temps?
3.) Might want to look into radeon pro tool, its still a beta but the dynamic vsync works great on my 7970 cfs.

4.) Possibly you might have to tweak some voltages, or back off a bit on some of the overclocks. In C3 if your overclock is not completely stable you might lose performance.
5.) Turn vsync off? Though you should be getting 60fps easily on medium.
6.) Though I am assuming a stupid question, did you install your graphics drivers properly when activating crossfire? uninstall, clean up then reinstall?
7.) What are your card temps? When I first setup crossfire with my gigabyte windforce OC 7970s right next to each other they were blazing hot and throttling the crap out of themselves. The temp would reach 90oC + and then the cards would begin throttling.

What resolution are you playing and have you updated to the latest version of the game if you are using eyefinity? The latest patch boosted performance quite substantially on eyefinity resolutions.

LOL i would understand if you thought the Multiplayer was TOTAL AND UTTER RUBBISH, but there is def. something up with your settings affecting the game. SP was flawless for me on a laptop but online is just noobish beyond COD.

First of all thanks very much for the replies, I really appreciate them.

I have indeed assumed it is the game because of how much I have read over the last couple of days, let me point out right now if i am proven to be wrong I will be throwing a damned party because I was loving the short bit of it I played very much.

My o/c is 100% stable I am an experienced overclocker - temps are rock solid with my Corsair H80 as well.

I have two Gigabyte Windforce HD 7970 in Crossfire and temps on them are absolutely fine, I ALWAYS monitor temps with new hardware - and as I said anyway GPU usage on both cards is not even 50% yet I am still dropping below 60.

I have formatted twice since installing my Crossfire.

I game at 1080p with VSYNC ON always.

I use radeon pro and have tried just about everything, including dynamic frame rate control and capping it to 60 etc.

I have tried with radeon pro completely off also.

I have my game through Origin, I would assume it is patched automatically.

Many thanks again.

I should point out i am very very sensitive to stutters and even one frame below 60 and I feel it, but the performance I am getting out doors in Crysis 3 is just vile, not like even an occasional drop, just really a mess between 50-60 fps.

Crysis 2 is fine btw, apart from flickering textures mind but frame rate wise it's great.

I do not really do any 'configuring' so I cannot see it being something wrong with my 'configuration' specially as other games like BF3 run to perfection, and for me to say perfection it means it's real, and that's using radeon pro enchanced AA with Adaptive on.
