Crysis Wars 64-bit Icon Problem

Post » Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:41 pm

Hi,
For some reason, the icon for CW 64-bit disappeared. All there is instead is the windows icon for an "unknown application". What happened to it, and what can I do?
Thanks, and sorry for starting a new topic,
Hooligan

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Bin64

Find the one called Crysis (type = application), then copy it to your desktop and name it to your liking.

Good luck!

@Talon95
Thanks, but at the location it does say that it's an application. And when I right-click it and select properties the icon in the properties is the right one. Just the actual file's icon and all shortcuts are messed up.

Here are screenshots of the icons:

Weird... If you can't get it to start at all, a re-installation is probably required.

Maybe a re-format, and then a fresh new installation would help. Or (if worse is to come), you might be infected with a serious virus - targeting apps over sys. files...

Good luck :)

Thanks to all!
I tried to run CW, and it actually runs. Or at least it starts up, I don't know if it runs yet.
It's just that all the icons for CW 64-bit are missing, regardless of wether it's the actual app, or shortcuts...

The only things that i changed recently on my PC are an update for my graphics card driver (ATI HD4700 X2)+upgrading to CCC 2.0, the raised my monitor refresh rate from 60 to 75 Hz (which I tried to set back to 60 to see if it was the cause. It wasn't.). And I also defragmented my hard drive. None of these things should be the cause. I think.

I also tried to uninstall then reinstall and then to replace my files, but it didn't do anything. Either before or after I replaced my files.

Thanks again for all the help! Hopefully it will right itself... :P

Sounds like a virus has attacked your Crysis Wars app. It has happened to me before, it usually will require a full re-format of your HDD to fix the issue of getting your icons back to working order.

If its working okay though without the icons, then I dont see the need to reformat! Happy holidays! :)

I managed to fix it! I used the Windows System Restore to restore to about two days ago, which was the last time that the icons were fine, and now everything is fine! I don't know what caused it, but I'm going to try to redo each of the things that I did before one at a time to maybe narrow down what caused it. Hopefully, it won't happen again...

Thanks again to everybody that helped, and Merry Christmas!
