Crysis Wars motion blur problem

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 6:12 am

Hi
Got a problem with motion blur in CW, it keep on reverting to best visuals which kills my fps during fast fire fight.
I have autoexec with
r_motionblur=0
I also set it to 0 everywhere else, and yet it still stays on best visuals. And if I disable it in menu, it will revert when I join the server.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried manually entering it in the console while in game? I'd be interested to know what results you get when you try that.

Try adding this to the target line in the .exe (Right click > Properties):

+r_MotionBlur 0

If that does not work, try it like this:
+r_MotionBlur=0

And finally if that does not work, come back and let me know so I can dig a bit further.

Edit: If you are manually setting it in the console in game, there might be something overriding it in some way. Have you checked your nVidia panel/Catalyst (ATI/AMD) panel to see what application/global settings are being applied to the process?

I did check the AMD CC, it does not have motion blur settings.
What I did find out that when I am in game using r_motionblur=3 sets it to custom and significantly reduces the fps drop. Seems like game has a problem with disabling it completely.
As for adding r_motionblur=0 to target line, wouldn't that have same effect as autoexec.cfg ?

Thanks for your help.

It would potentially, but I have experienced success with that method when some people have had problems. Worth a shot!

Good find on the custom setting. I know you can set custom values, but 3 would significantly cut down on the effect, and the added FPS increase is great.

Cutting down on the effect is precisely what I want, If I can't disable it at least I want to reduce it as much as possible. r_motionblur=0 in target line starts the game with it off, but it reverts as usual when joining the game.
