Is Crysis 2 a Windows 7 Exclusive?

Post » Fri Jul 10, 2009 12:43 pm

I don't know if its true, but there are rumours about the game being WIN 7 Xclusive.
That is a bad news for the PC users who did not upgrade their PCs recently.
WIN 7 requires a pretty decent GPU just to run it, and a high end spec all-together to run a beast like CRYSIS 2.
This will just make Cry2 hard on the pocket even though the PC version is going to be cheaper than the consoles.

Where have these rumours come from? Nowhere.
In any case, upgrade to 7. It is infinitely better than XP, and 2 times better than Vista.

Why the heck would it be Windows 7 exclusive? Whoever told you that, has absolutely no clue what they are talking about.

Cryengine 3 supports DX9, DX10 and DX11. Basically XP, Vista and 7. IF the engine supports it, there is no reason the game wont. Amazingly, after almost 10 years, XP is still used for gaming.

I'd almost guarantee that rumor to be incorrect but without a valid source to point you to, i can't technically do that.

XP will continue to be supported for a while, i believe. Though, Win7 is far superior to both XP and Vista, so i hope we will eventually see a full migration to DX10/11 sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure whether you are confused about exclusive titles or Operating System exclusive titles, Crysis 2 will be available on PC (Most versions of Windows, including XP, Vista and Windows 7), PS3 and Xbox 360.

Even if the game is DX11 only, that'll mean Vista and Win7. And since the game is DX9/10/11. There's no way it can be a Win7 exclusive.

uhmmm.. wtf? and u do know that Win7 runs better then even XP, right? It runs on pretty much ANY peace of crap machine, u do NOT need nearly a high-end GPU or RAM or CPU to run Win7.

So lets get something right about windows 7, while visiting my friend at his place of work, (tech) I witnessed some of the bods take out a dinosuar of a pc from the store room, this had windows 98 installed but was to be used as a test bed, not sure how low the specs were, but they proceeded to install windows 7 pre release candidate on that machine, and it ran. widows 7 is a dream, but to date I have never seen a developed game to be for one operating system alone, thanks Crytek for your input and reasurance, to the faint of heart.

DX9, DX10 and DX11 are the 3 supported API's for PC.

ok for all those who think windows 7 "runs better than xp" then shall we look at the spec required to run it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP#System_requirements

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7#Hardware_requirements

Sorry but i think XP wins...

Seriously... I mean come on. No one still has a machine that terrible, no one. The hardware requirements are worthless when they are that low.

Sounds like rubbish to me, I mean at the least it would be supported on both Vista and 7 because they both are compatible with DX11. The chances of Crytek releasing a DX11 ONLY game are also pretty miniscule to, their bound to leave backwards compatiability with 10/9 because most people don't have DX11 compatible cards ;)

Is everyone sure they want XP to go away? I played Crysis and Warhead on an XP box. I dont think XP should ever go away. Hell I have a multiboot machine with Dos/Windows 3.11 , Linux, 2000, 95 and 98. It still works LOL.. I have seen Windows 7 crammed in these worthless PCs and Laptops and it takes a decade to just boot. I have Vista running great. I will play Crysis 2 on that unless someone really can tell me a Good reason to get Windows 7 because Crysis 2 would be the reason for me to get Windows 7 if I were to get it. Was that right? LOL
