Crysis won't update

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:12 am

I just bought Crysis 2 on Origin because of the sale. Origin is unable to launch it, but I can launch the game by going to the directory. However, Crysis2Launcher will not start, I get an error saying
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."
This is a problem because, as far as I can tell, that is the only way to get crysis 2 to update. And I want my dx11 goodies.
I've been searching half the day for a solution, and even asked tech support (they were not helpful). They suggested this: https://help.ea.com/article/crysis-2-launch-issue-on-windows-vista-7
I don't have an option to "run with graphics processor", so it wasn't very helpful. They also suggested re installing, which didn't help either.
I've tried running it as an administrator and various compatibility modes.
Does anyone know what to do?

Are you sure you installed it correctily? If yes.... Try to manually download the 1.9 patch
