Crysis 2 - Is it worth $60 for what it has turned out to be?

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:28 pm

Ok I probably should have started this up two days ago but due to my laziness here it is now

Many of this fanbase are dissapointed in what C2 has turned out to be, whether it be no breakthrough graphic options or that its mechanics have turned into the standard console shooter.

However I've noticed that people are annoyed at it for being marketed at the $60 price point and it not delivering what was expected.

I know of some people (myself included) who have by other means (third/fourth party digital distributor OR cd key stores) only paid up to 25-30USD for it.

The majority of rage is from how costly the product is in terms of its performance, that is why piracy exists because if it was bad to the point nobody wanted it then NOBODY would want it; even pirates. If the cost were to go down then its performance / price would go up and it would not be so bad a deal, this is the case with most computer components

Let the poll run and see what people think

EDIT: put in timberfox's "No but i wasted my money option"

I play on PC, and even with a host of bugs and issues I've had on launch day with the multiplayer, its still a better game than any other recent AAA shooter. The campaign is hands down the best campaign of recent years in a title like this, and the multiplayer (bugs aside) is more fun and refined than any CoD style game. I'm happy with the $60 I paid for the game, I feel I got what I paid for. For comparison, I paid $60 for Blops and feel like I was cheated and screwed, I paid the same for Medal of Honor and felt like I got short changed, I paid $50 for Homefront which was just mediocre...

I say it was worth it. With the web and leaks on youtube, those people who expected else only have themselves to blame. And Either way. its better than paying for the same game different skin for the 3rd time. cough cod cough.

Understood Aervalis, its different in ways and certain people will appreciated that, and others.... not so much.

It really all boils down to whether 'is it worth my hard earned cash' or not. I've seen many of my mates go ahead and buy games overpriced at the $120NZ new release markpoint (its about 90US, NZ games are ridiculously overpriced) and get disapointed by it and then later regret that they spent their money on it.

Whats even worse is when the game get put on steam summer/winter sale for 10US

Aegis, rage for the wrong reasons. This is a poll thread on whether people think that Crysis 2 is worth the money spent on it, not how badly the pricing is between regions. Strictly performance / price, no crying or whinging whatsoever (hopefully)

Whether or not something is worth its cost is a value proposition and utterly pointless to debate. Intelligent advlts do something called research before they buy. Once you make a purchase, if you don't feel you got your money's worth what you do is put your big boy undies on and man up. If you're dissatisfied, let them know through feedback and if your concerns or requests aren't addressed stop supporting said company, product, etc. Basic grownup stuff here kids. You'll always have people who buy things when they really cant afford em, or that guy who just biches about everything, or the super computer nerd counting pixels flaming on forums...these people have crummy lives and can't be satisfied with anything because their life svcked from birth. For everyone else...the basic grownup stuff. Research your purchases followup with feedback. Don't like it, don't buy it.

I've bought it for under 60 euros. I would have paid 60 for it, but I don't have that much money to spend on a game these days. University fee was more important ;)

Actually reviews for Crysis 2 were not allowed till after its release. So if you wanted to buy the game on day one, how would you research?

If your some sort of mug thats takes things as they shuldnt be then yes. But if your not a mug and dont like being treated like one and don't like being lied to for 2 years or having 'this amazing game is coming out' in your face in advertisments for so long, or having the game come out as a beta that you pay for and hardly any support or questions answered then hell no.
