Crysis3 from a new guys prespective.

I've seen quite a few posts from people in the community talking about whats right, whats wrong, and what we can do to fix the game. I'll add my two cents, from the perspective of a guy who just came into the Crysis universe from that of the other two big franchise games.

First, a lot of people are asking why the noobs abandoned the game like rats off a sinking ship. The answer is simple. The games a bit complicated to learn to play and there were no servers for new players only. If you weren't fairly adept at FPS shooters to begin with, you were doomed.

Nano suit usage, toggling weapons and fire modes, the movement, the speed, it's all a bit to take in, combine that with all these absolutely useless suit moduels and weapons (there are a few of both) and what you have is fast paced frustration for new players.

Now, my impressions. I've been at this online FPS gaming thing since it started. Yeah, I'm getting old. I've been a part of the Quake, Unreal, and COD communities. I've also played quite a bit of Battlefield. I've competed, ran servers, gone to a lot of LANs, ect ect. Lots of gaming in other words. In all my time gaming, I've never seen such a well moderated, polite and mature community. Anybody who's spent any time on clan forums or in the world of Call of Duty should understand right away what I'm saying. As for the game itself, it's beautiful. Stunning really. I have a few DX 11 games and still nothing compares. FarCry3 for example, a big DX 11 release, is a joke compared to this game.

About playability, I never had any issues ruunning the game on this machine although the CVAR configurator really helped but that's only because I know about cfgs. A lot of noobs wouldn't have any idea what to do with that thing. Just getting my ADS sensitivity right took a couple days. WTH is that all about?

There are a lot of weapons and suit moduels. A lot of which are useless crap. This creates a lot of opportunity for a new guy like me to make bad choices and retarded kits which result in fast and certain death when faced with even a mid level dude with too much coffee in his system. Combine that with vets running around with SCAR/Lazer/Rapid fire along with some Weapon Pro and no recoil action and man, it's all over for the fresh meat. It's taken a while to wade through the crap but in the last few days, I've been making kits that aren't so broken. Who the hell thought auto armor was a good idea? Talk about a friggin crutch! Getting new people off that is nearly impossible but once you're off it's liberating. I liken it to getting off drugs.....lol.

Back to game play. There are a lot of different mods but TDM, CS and Spears look like the most popular, all three are fun. The game play is fast paced, and really fun IMO. I absolutely love it but I admit, in the beginning, it was very frustrating at times and there were a lot of times when I was thinking screw it. It would be really helpful to have servers that are primarily for new players, at least for a while. It would also be helpful if some of the vets embraced and helped the new players along with suggestions for kits and weapon build outs, nano suit moduels, that sort of thing. I've had a few people suggest things to me and for those that have, I'm greatful. I'm also greatful for the veteran players on my friends list who send me invites to come get killed in their servers.

No game is ever perfect when it's released, not anymore. While I admit, Crysis 3 has had it's issues, it's no worse, in fact it's release was better than the last three COD releases were. At least when I installed Cry3 I could play it right out of the box, so to speak. The community is ten times better as a whole than any other games community I've ever seen online and if people think this games hacked, just go hop on your Steam account and play COD BO2 for a while and get back to me. I think a lot of these haccusations are rooted in the fact that there's such a huge difference in skills/ability and knowledge between the new people and the vets.

All in all, I think the game and community are both excellent but I stuck it out, took my lumps and now I'm starting to give some back. I have several friends who bought the game, played it for a couple weeks and are now telling me I should come back to BlK Ops 2 and play...........that. No thanks. I'll stick around. From the perspective of someone used to the COD series who's devs are famous for completely ignoring their fan base and wouldn't even consider something like gamesas there's really not much to complain about here. I really don't get why this game isn't just bangin' twenty four seven other than the massive difference in skill sets which frustrates and may turn away potentially new players.

It's nice to have feedback from somebody from "outside" :) For me, Crysis 2 and 3 are the only MP games I play, I tried COD:BO2 last weekend and it was OK, but I have much more fun in Crysis 3 :) Besides, leaving the textures in "auto" in BO2 gives you a game looking like it was made 5 years ago, LOL.

Thanks for your feedback!

That's one of the reasons I stopped playing COD. It's a slap in the face they charge sixty bucks for that piece of garbage game that's still running on the Quake 3 engine. Their software isn't worthy of my hardware plus they want to gouge their fan base for an additional sixty dollars a year in DLC! EA figured out a long time ago with Madden that they can turn games into a franchise, release one every year and make big money. The problem with that is they now release utter crap. They've been regurgatating the same textures, maps and mods for years. Just say no.
