CRYTEK: Are you aware of the Orbital Strike server lag?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 3:30 am

It doesnt lag FPS wise, but when 2 people fire of Orbital at same time people dont move and you suddenly die like 4 times in a row without the chance of respawning.
Everything else runs fine its just like orbital shuts off you connection for 20 sec and plug it back in.

when i look at an orbital strike when it comes down, my fps drops by 20.
dont know i dont recieve low fps when its orb but every1 stops moving and my gun stops functioning for like 10 secs and then everything continues

+1 Epic is when you lauch your own OS, everyone freezes and you just get bunch of free kills.

yea I always search for enemies when the server is lagging , you can have free kills but in some cases , there are moments you cant fire that means someone is firing and killing you as well lol

Yeah, it's a gamble as to how many frozen people you can find before someone finds where your frozen body is.

The first time it ever happened to me I figured I had lagged out and decided to melee bash someone a few times. When things came back, it suddenly popped up with 3 or so kills for me on the same person. xD

The lag is getting worse from patch to patch.
Ceph ship lags more still.
You are on a good way to ruin the game even more crytek.
Maybe destroy it with teh next patch

I have noticed this but it's rare and I haven't seen it recently. The Orbital does deal a hit to my FPS especially if it goes through a part of the map with a lot of destructible objects. The worst place is the penthouse on Skyline - it takes out the wood panels, glass and plants and my dual core really starts to chug.

Last time I activated NanoSuit 2.0, directly called the orbital strike... Well, after a 2sec lag I was dead, because another player had no lag and killed me... Owned by my own orbital strike lag... Roflcopter =))

No, they are not aware. Since they don't really play their game to the extent we gamers do, they never understood what we meant by Orbital Strike Lag Spikes. Also, I don't think they would be able to fix it soon: the engine is brand-new and still pretty messed up, combined with poor netcode it will take some months to clean up all the issues...

They claim the Engine to be available for developers in summer - as Crysis 2 was "available" in March. So I'd guess it'll take about half a year until everything is kinda polished.
Probably 2 or 3 map packs will release before that.. o.0

But don't get me wrong! I don't think they are sh*tting on us, or that they are greedy or something, I just think they underestimated the task of building a multiplatform engine and sdk and game and ran out of time and resources...

I'm having an issue where 90% of the orbital strikes called in (by me or anyone else) causes extreme lag. Is this a known issue or something with my ISP or router? It's quite obnoxious.

I have complained so much about this bug, its the only gamechanger for me. If this was gone, for me the game would be perfect. I'm not joking!

Can't even tell you how many 7th tags I've lost because of this bug...I never use my orbital strikes until I have the 7 kill-streak already.

I (almost) agree. There are some other connectivity and netcode issues that need fix, and the engine itself too, but basically, without those bugs, the game would be a true masterpiece of urban first person shooting!
That's what makes us rage, right? If the game was sh*t we wouldn't care...

When are you gonna fix the Massive Lag caused by Orbital Strikes? If your anywhere near an Orbital Strike you completely lag out and usually end up dead. This is getting so annoying, the game has been out long enough to fix this. Am i the only one with this issue?

We all have this issue, but you have to wait... Crytek can't fix anything in a day!

Game is ass they prob already gave up on fixing bugs. If they were smart they would cut their loses and work on another title. I hope they lost money from crysis 2 that make me happy. Because I lost 60 bucks buying this piece of crap tard game.

the massive lag from orbital strike tends to only happen on skyline. The reason behind this is the ridiculous amount of glass in the map. When an orbital strike is deployed, the sheer amount of data being spewed out from shattering glass causes the ridiculous lag you see. It's not a problem with orbital strikes, but rather the processing required to keep track of all the bits of glass being thrown about.

this of course, is just my theory, and I could be 100% wrong.

Crytek is so busy making paid DLCs. Don't disturb them with your silly complaints.
If you want your game fixed PAY FOR IT.

You are 100% wrong, happens to me on almost every level.
Its very enjoyable, if you are fast you can get some 3-4 kills in between ;)

Also it is very annoying because you cant reload and you die half a mile from where you were, having
moved so fast to get the kills, but you do get them even though you are dead.
Nice addition, i think that is the balance they are talking about.
Because the teams are still formed very moronically.
