Crytek had to of cut levels out of crysis 2?

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:21 pm

Just finished my 2nd complete play through of crysis 2 and came to the conclusion that a crap load of content was removed, including a whole under water level and a fight through Hardgraves office complex to the 11th floor?

Maybe these will be re-leased as DX 11 levels just for PC gamers (or) DLC.... There are sooo many plot holes that could backfill with DLC in the same story arch....

Did anyone else come to the same conclusion and a play thru?

Well the whole story as is dosnt make any real sense any more. Especially the Aliens... looking at C1 and C2 its just two different things!
Not sure what to say about it im pretty dissapointed how the story turned out..

They had to basically create a new story so that the console users did not feel out of the loop. So they hired some writer to come in and create the c2 story.

Eh, well something like 4 years passed between C1 and C2, right? And, the Ceph were all "sleeping," apparently all separated in different parts of the world for like a million years before then. Maybe New York Ceph are different than Lingshan Ceph for these reasons.

But, I totally agree with the OP that there seem to be a lot of time warps in this game. After the level where you det charge that parking garage and retreat into the train station, you start the next level in a subway convenience store with no doors. So, you walk from your doorless corner of the convenience store through that metal detector at the store's entrance where the marines accost you because they don't know who you are. How the hell did Alcatraz get into that room?

Freakin love this game, though.

HA HA.... tooo funnny love the EA... "fu*k everything video.. Feed us more DLC garbage, that should of been in the orginal!!! Money hungry Bastards

Exactly,
They "set the table" by introducing the idea that the city going to be flooded, then they have a kick-ass cut sense where is shows a "cell" heli going to pick you up (for some reason?) They completely wash you around a bit in the cut scene they through you into the semper fi level... Why would they spend all those resourses and build a story around the flooded NY, without having a level where you interact with the flooded city, where does all the water drain too?
The second idea, about Hardgraves office, they show the 11th floor (research level) they they voice over in the cut scene that you have to use a security PC at the 1st floor, the cut-scene cleary show 2 elevators and 2 stair-cases to the 11th floor and a path to the 11th floor...

There are a couple of other example where your "time warp" experience happens..... My guess there is a LOT of the game on cutting room floor at crysis at the expense of the March 22nd release date!!!! ouch OR EVEN WORSE DLC and charge us for it again..... maybe even a couple extra hours of SP, who knows..... that svcks

I don't see the point of posts like these. Is it gonna change anything for us, other than make us feel bad? NO.

someone clear this up, prophet lives in the suit, because the suit bonded with his synapses, but this means..... Alcatraz is brain dead? I mean,....... they mention hes a walking corps, and prophet is actually the suit itself.......why is there so much information left out? and why isnt it straight forward,? What the F$%^ happens to the virus? And what was so special about Alcatraz?

spoilers below

Alcatraz is barely alive, when the EMAT team was on their way it was the intention of Prophet to give his suit to one of the marines that were sent to retrieve him and Gould, however the squad gets destroyed with Alcatraz fatally injured leaving Prophet no chance to expalin and left with only one option.
The virus was being worked on by the suit but Prophet was not going to survive for the suit to complete it's work, he hopes that you will survive just long enought to see it through, you do and rewrite the spore towers to release a virus that breaks down Ceph tissue just like they were doing to humans.
The suit kept the link with Prophet and the suit grows into Alcatraz, which is the cause for the last spoken line line.

You'll hear a load of ideas about how his lungs are filled with blood etc so he can't talk, but if they were that full off blood, he wouldn't be walking around, and the defibrillator in the suit would be redundant as his pulmonary system wouldn't be working anyway.

The game is a cockup. I like the new nanosuit control system more than the original hud thing but an outdated/ancient version of Direct X and a story that is incoherent? I am currently trying to do a second playthrough but am not sure I will do the whole thing again...just not that compelling or interesting. I must assume that the game was created as a way to do some cool things with the nanosuit and stuff and THEN it was realized that there really needed to be some sort of story tacked on.

I swear, the first time through I was at a total loss as to what the story was until fairly late in the game and then it was, "Huh? This is ridiculous! Incoherent! Full of holes! Nonsensical!"

It suffers as well from being tightly linear. Far Cry and Crysis (1) and Far Cry 2 (great look but crappy story/play) were huge, open, and coherent.

I would take a look at MP in Crysis 2 but I cannot bcuz the damn game (LE version at that...what a waste of cash) will not accept my gamesas login and pword (THE major problem for many).

In short, BIG disappointment. I am seriously considering going back to Mass Effect 1 and 2 to bid time until Deus Ex 3 and then Mass Effect 3 comes out. Of course, I've only played the EXCELLENT Dead Space 2 twice so far... There's just not much here to catch my attention beyond the first playthrough - and it just isn't fun to be scratching one's head trying to figure out if there is a story to this game or not only to realise it is chaotic and, as I said, incoherent.

A dumbed down console game tossed at more powerful PCs with no attempt to improve console weaknesses at all. A rush job that shows in the lack of a coherent story. A step backwards in that it is using an ancient version of Direct X AND has gone to linear gameplay/levels.

Did a lot of people leave the company after the original Crysis game?
