Crytek keeps quiet.. the communities revolt!

I mean look over to your biggest fans @ crymod (your own modding website!!!!)
everybody there is disappointed about the fact that there is no editor with the game.
Obviously you dont care about the modding community anymore.. otherwise a simple : NO for a future editor or a compatibility for Crysis 2`s assets for the indie SAndbox 3 would be at least something.
A sign that Cevat and the rest of Crytek at least dare to answer the most important question of one of the biggest modding communties, which are loayal and true fans of your franchise and technology.
But you are ignoring them.

Cevat said: Crysis 2 will be a PC leadplatform game.. the PC will get the better version and this is our best Pc game period.

But even the biggest Noob on the internet could see that Crysis 2 retail is nowhere near to what its fans expected it to be. Why do i have ammo boxes instead of collecting my ammunition myself ( from dead soldiers for example)
at least why cant i see my arms actually picking up the ammo and grenades... i could pick up so much useless stuff and see my arms do the work.. but the ammo seems to warp into my weapons as my arms still hold my weapon. Why cant i use different types of ammo anymore like flame projectiles?
Why cant i drive longer than half a mile and then getting stuck? Why is even the most fragile little kiosk in new York resistent to bullets, grenades and even rockets? Why cant i see any people on the missing list photowalls instead of these mudballs you call textures? Why cant my DX10 grfxcard bring me any kind of advanced volumetric effects? I could go on forever!

You guys made a decision... you overadvertised Crysis 2 for the PC.. made too many promises...
But now its time for a serious statement: We dont want an apology.. we want the truth... we and our desires dont want to be hushed up any longer.

Suggested Truths that need an official statement:

-The Xbox 360 was the dev-lead platform.. truth No.1
-The PC version was nothing more than a necessary evil for you... a side product of a consolegame development truth NO.2
- The PC gamers ( who buyed 3 million copies of your first game!!!) have not enough purchasing power to earn your attention anymore. Truth No.3
-The modders will never be able to touch Crysis 2 contend- files otherwise you see your sales going down. Truth No.4
- A DX11 patch is not more than damage containment and will not increase the texture details (for example) Truth No.5

But you ignore us

We look forward to hearing from you and remain in deep disappointment:

Your communities...

Screw you, Crysis 2 is great. I have Crysis, and Crysis 2, and if I want to play sweet mods I download Crysis mods. Anyone who wants sweet mods and crap can get a copy for $20 and play it. Besides, the mod sdk came after the Crysis launch, so shove it in your bunghole and be patient.

@DrVosknocker
Crysis 1 came with the Sandbox editor on disc. ( my Editor is on my disc and ive bought the game in January 2008)
An SDK is useless if it couldnt open the Crysis 2 assets.
So you like Crysis 2 no matter what..if thats your opinion its just fine.. but you belong to a minority compared to all the PC gamers that are disappointed.
Also why are u using profanities against me? Is this how you always react when someone hasnt got the same opionion as you?I personally would love to see what could be tweaked out a modded Cryengine 3 on Pc.. if youre not as curious as i am.. then ignore this post and use your schoolyard talk somewhere else.

Yeah, some of us really want to be able to make custom maps for Crysis 2, cause granted New York is fun to fight in, but I for one miss some of Crysis one's maps. Also, I don't know why, but I for one don't like playing on maps that looked like some one set off a few bombs in side a building, and ran this big ass alien tower through it. I like seeing maps that aren't Destroyed do to some major fighting, I like maps that look like no one has been there in a very long time.

Although I can see where you're coming from. I don't know if I agree with that statement 100%. I think CryTek may have over-extended themselves. Crysis 1 was all the Crysis 1 was, because I think the developers could focus on the PC environment. There were no consoles to worry about or contend with in terms of software development.

-The PC version was nothing more than a necessary evil for you... a side product of a consolegame development truth NO.2
I think this is mostly the case with modern-day game development. The large multi-million dollar investments needed to make a game like Crysis 2 can't see profitable returns unless it's available to a wide audience.

Even strictly in the console realm, games are rarely exclusive releases anymore. And if they are, it's normally because the console manufacturer pays a large sum to the dev or publisher to offset the loss of a multi-platform release. Remember when Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider used to make you think, "PlaySation." Not anymore.

Gaming is very much a hit-driven industry. If you pour $20 to $30 million dollars into a game, you cannot afford for it to fail. Thus sometimes safer bets are placed and a game suited for a broad audience comes from that. And those that do fail? Well you hear about Developers closing all the time. Disney closed a couple of devs recently, almost eliminating their entire interactive entertainment division. Activision recently discontinued the Guitar Hero franchise after poor performacne and practically closed the studios who once worked on those games.
- The PC gamers ( who buyed 3 million copies of your first game!!!) have not enough purchasing power to earn your attention anymore. Truth No.3
Even though Crysis 1 was proftiable over time, it's launch was not exactly setting the gaming world on fire. It sold better than expected in the first week, but in the coming months or too its sales were considered disapointing by many. http://www.techspot.com/news/28270-crysis-ut3-sales-disappoint-developers.html

And also, it was a response from Cevat Yerli from as early as 2008 that Crytek would not be looking for PC only releases any more. Citing the large amounts of piracy surrounding Crysis as the reason.

PC Play: How do you estimate the current state of the PC gaming industry? Some say that it's only a matter of time when it's going to finally die-off, the others say that "the big one" is only getting its comeback pace.
Considering Crysis is a PC-exclusive title, what do you think of its market reception and its future? Skeptics would say that it's pretty risky going PC-exclusive with such a high-profile title.

Cevat Yerli: It is certainly. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.

So in summary, this isn't me trying to say, "ZOMG! U R SO WRONGZZ @!#$%" but I think we have to realise that this industry is a little bit more complex than we give credit for. I have no doubts Crytek would make a game every bit fitting it's predecessor and the players who loved it if they didn't have to tend with things such as a release schedule, multi-platform development, piracy and money.

It doesn't make shipping an unfinished product okay. There needs to be some serious discussion and perhaps even regulation or the formation of a code of conduct regarding the release of games in various states of completion. But it can lessen the blow from being a total slap in the face, like so many people have taken it, when you realise how difficult game development can be.

But to be fair: There are also way more consoles sold than PCs that could handle Crysis 2 properly.

So of course Pc gaming cant grant a company as many sales as the consoles... especially not in countries like the US where PC gaming is not a big thing anymore.
