Crytek, here is some free consumer feedback (you don't even have to ask for me to fill out a survey!) on things that need to occur DAY 1 to avoid a complete crapstorm:
DX11 out of the box.
No "we'll patch it 3 months after the fact" bull. With Crysis 2, you advertised a beautiful game engine and then took a quarter year to enable its most advanced features. In the meantime, players heard basically no information from EA or Crytek as to whether there would even BE an update. Don't do that this time! I hear that the game will in fact have DX11 upon release, but after last time around I am extremely wary. I'll believe it when I see it.
Digital distribution done properly.
If you can't get the game on Steam for whatever reason and have to use Origin, say so outright BEFORE LAUNCH. If you are launching on both major distribution platforms, say so from the start to avoid confusion. You can't sell something if people don't know where to buy it. I would greatly prefer Steam, myself. But if EA says it will be on Origin or nothing, at least give customers the courtesy of knowing beforehand.
Launch with a story that actually has continuity.
I have to go buy 6 comic books to fill in crucial plot details from the events of Crysis 2 to Crysis 3, I will literally pull my hair out, defecate on the comic books after I read them, cover the whole mess with my pulled out hair, and light it on fire in the street, tweeting pictures the whole time. If you release comic books, they should add to the story, not be released as a substitute for putting a good plot in the game you are releasing.
I love the Crysis series, and I will absolutely get Crysis 3 day one, but if I have to experience what I went through with the Crysis 2 launch I will stop supporting future Crytek games.
