Crytek, Do Not Be Discouraged

Post » Sat Apr 30, 2011 5:29 am

Just as most gamers (I hope) are not discouraged but rather turned completely off by haters and trolls who are more competent complaining with their PC system than taking advantage of their PC system.. whether it be for the technical/beauty aspect this engine appears to be capable of, or of the technique/skill aspect this engine demands of players.. I hope Crytek is not discouraged at another example of German quality at this current time. I am Korean.. and have only met one confirmed German citizen, who was half Korean and half German.

The hit system: from personal experience, I am a "sniper," rather, marksman, from the days of Quake Team Fortress, on the original Quake, and that is where I was grounded in that specialty, though the role of soldier in that specific game was also appealing. I went on to the Counter-Strike beta from there on to release and competing, eventually labeled as a "awp-whore" as the haters/trolls would say. Apparently it took no skill to one-shot players at an incredibly low firing rate.. requiring precision and tact. I'm not even going to go deeper into this as it should be clear enough to state that a low firing rate is extremely disadvantageous.. and that tactics involving survival.. ... ... ...

The team play of Quake Team Fortress was superb. And as a side note, the rocket jump maps and concussion grenade jump maps were equally amazing/entertaining, using the same mechanics/capabilities/potentials that were present in Quake Team Fortress.

The team play aspect of Counter-Strike was superb. Any ordinarily sufficiently organized and cooperative team could overcome a team who had one or two star players who carried the rest of a mediocre, potentially loud mouth, "team."

OK. Let me start over as if this was the beginning.

"Virtue is persecuted more by the wicked than it is loved by the good."

In line with this thought process, I would, from witnessing the nearly criminal amount of hate on these forums, that Crytek is being persecuted by a lobby of intellectually teenage hormonal miscreants. Crytek, your product, Crysis 2, including its multiplayer, is great despite its in your face flaws. I hope Crytek will fix, improve, and maintain Crysis 2, up until and potentially even after the release of a possible Crysis 3. Balancing mechanics according to the recommendations from QA and not some angry and ignorant swarm.. and doing what needs to be done so as many people as possible are able to enjoy the experience.

P.S. Health and fitness transfers its benefits into gaming.

Edit: I find myself hitting targets despite household downloading/steaming/etc.. and causing me to be rated to a 200-300 ping in game.. albeit much after the shot takes place but nonetheless, a hit.

The odd thing with Crysis 2 is that you can play on a high ping server just fine

You accidentally a word from your post. I think you meant to say intellectually challenged....

Anyway, i agree that Crytek shouldn't feel discouraged. There are as many people happy with the game so far as there are the haters. I'm sure that a lot of the problems that people are having will be rectified in due time, and i look forward to seeing more from this franchise.

I like the game, and by god have I missed the fast paced MP action that is present in this game. All other MP FPS games out there focus on these big and long maps, that, in the end, become so damn boring. I guess the fast paced action here will become fast paced boredom sometime in the future, but right now, I am enjoying myself immensely with this game.
^^ I.E I don't have any troubles at all. I don't even mind the whole DX9 thing, since the game is incredibly beautiful none the less. Would be awesome if they added DX10/11 though, although I might just go blind from the beauty of the graphics :P

I don't think Crytek is discouraged at all.
They are encouraged by all those great Xbox and ps3 sales. The sales from pc version is trivial compared to the those of the consoles.
It is likely that they'll drop the pc support soon. And Crysis 3 pc version will be a true console port, if there is one.

If crysis 3 will be like C2 with ****ed up story, gameplay, and scenery, then i dont care if they release C3 to PC in the future. We have great modding comunity with great game engine, cryengine2 and sandbox editor. We have great MMORPGs like EVE, we are enthusialists, we want some technological advancement in gameplay and graphics. Our gameplay needs are far more advanced than mindless console shooters. We want difficult things, we want .ini and .cfg files to play with, WE ARE DEMANDING. Amen

Play Call of Duty, since Crysis 2 is basically an exact clone of it. Or Quake, since it did arena play better than anything else.

As for the AWP, it doesn't take skill to 1 shot things when you just have to peak in and out from behind a corner... I'd be more impressed if you said you consistently got headshots, but apparently you just bodyshot people.

I agree there's some excessive raging at times, but stating that this game is great referring to it's SP is a joke. MP is what's alright despite it's flaws. I am actually amazed someone from original TF era can have this low expectation for quality tbh.

PS3 sales are the lowest, not PC.
http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360s-crysis-2-sales-completely-obliterate-ps3-and-pc/

Anyway. Like with most games, a big part part of the console-sales are because of the PC-version. (In this case the PC-version of Crysis 1). Dropping the PC-Version would also drastically lower the console-sales and probably mean the end of Crysis.

But true, most game-developers do not yet understand this concept and so focus on masses-console-games to get the highest number of sales and up with a dead game. Car-manufacturers do get this concept. That’s why most have some expensive cars or have F1 cars. (even thow they don't make the big money on those few expensive cars)

The same you see with a lot of hardware-manufactures. For example: Nvidia does not make a lot of money with the GTX590 but it gives them a better name and so sell more other cards where they make the money with.

The only way to not be dissapointed with this game is to not play it.Being a Crysis fan from day1 of Crysis, reading over the past few years of how this was going to be a "ground" breaking game, and then to actually get what we got, even EA should be ashamed of publishing this game.

...example of German quality...

this is German Quality:

and this is Crytek's Quality:

*hint* you might have noticed on the first video that quality products are actually tested and pass rigorous quality control BEFORE becoming available to the public.

you, sir, are totally clueless. please do STFU.

EA can recover their image of quality any time they want to. Just making sure one of their titles raise the quality par upwards. Like BF3 for example. C1 and Crytek was the example of EA quality product for me until C2. Too bad Crytek can't recover their name as easily.
