Crytek read this

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 8:23 am

Just letting you know. I never purchased the game. I only rented it through gamefly. As there are so many horrible games that come out and it just makes sense to TRY BEFORE I BUY.

That being said I returned the game and WILL NOT BE PURCHASING IT. The two people that I know who did purchase it. Have since returned it used to amazon. Additionally anyone I know who is considering the purchase of this game, I will advise not to.

And Crytek, I would like to offer some advice from one business owner to another. Customer service is just as important in the end as the product. And if you can only offer a mediocre product you need to make up for it with exeptional customer support. I can't imagine what would happen if I left a clients home with the job 90% complete, and not functioning properly. It doesn't matter if its a simple 500$ network job, or a 200,000$ smart home. I'd either not get paid, or get sued. The sad thing is you guys don't even have to answer phones and hear the unsatisfied customer. You can hide behing a computer screen, just start a quick thread, lock it down so no other comment can be made, and be done with it. And you don't even do an acceptable level of that. And to close down threads asking whats whens and whys in regards to updates. Wow that would be like me hanging up the phone on a customer who had a question on how to work something I sold them....Unreal

Good job.

Alright fan boys. Flame away. Nerd rage on...Have a blast. I won't be back to even read the responses.

I am also a builder and I have used the same anology - but to be fair, it isn;t just Crytek or EA it is becoming endemic across platforms, publishers and developers, they know they can get sales and just try to fix it later.

+1 Great post

The part about "hiding behind computer screens", encapsulates the entire issue. I have heard no better way of describing the state of affairs as simply and completely as that. When I heard that it make me feel sick.

Your right customer care is as important as the product. I have worked for many companies and been in contact with hundreds more due to the natures of the jobs and never had I experienced a worse customer care than Crytek. I cannot contact them via e-mail, text or phone. All we can do is post on a forum where posts fall into "No Mans Land", as little to no recognition is given. Whenever I had been given a faulty product in the past I could always do something, I could speak to someone or e-mail and receive a detailed response in a very short period of time, but in this instance there is nothing we can do, there are no options.

There is not even a reason as to why we cannot get a response from the developers from the moderators. Instead of saying "we will get back to you with information when we have it", why not say "we currently don;t have information because of X and Y, and we will let you know more at Z".

They don't have to give answers, EXPLANATIONS are sometimes enough.

It's really kinda sad because playing the beta and demo I had such high hopes for the game, and when this happened in the beta you could just pass it off as oh its just because its in the beta phase. Are we still playing the beta phase? I've been on many forums before and theres always been a community manager or someone who would answer our question and at least let us know the team was working to fix the problems, but here theres nothing. I bough a copy of Assassins creed brother hood today and will also be checking out other games while crysis 2 will be collecting dust seeing as I just beat the single player yesterday. It's sad that this game had so much potential, well I guess heres to hoping they can get an update out when I return to this game.

Every thread they close is another nail in the coffin. I was dismayed (but not surprised) to see Cry-Adam close Buddha's thread.

Organisations like Gamers Voice need to step up and start trying to hold studios accountable for their appalling customer service. Obviously it's a David v Goliath situation, but an effort does need to be made to represent gamers as we're at the mercy of the studios once we've bought their product.

The worrying thing about Cryek is they seemed to be going through the motions from the very start. They don't appear to have taken on board any of the feedback given during the beta/demo.

The current Crytek regime of silencing anyone who speaks out against them is a disgrace. They're so quick to snuff out any form of coherent protest, under the veil of forum streamlining. It's utter b*llocks.

I think I'm going to draft a letter to Gamers Voice and at the very least make them aware (if they're not already) that yet another games studio is shafting its customers. They made the news over here with their attempt at action against Treyarch.. but I'd be quite happy if they could just provoke an improvement in communication from Crytek. Just please not another Cry-Adam 'you'll know when we do' statement.

I don't expect this thread to last long unfortunately. That's German efficiency for you.

I refuse to believe they have won anything unless lowering your credibility is some how an accomplishment. Crytek's past reputation got me to pre-order this game and made me excited to play it.

They won't ever get a pre-order from me again. I won't even buy one of their games until I hear from the people who have already played the final release. IGN's reviews are obviously unreliable too. Glad Crytek taught me that lesson. Guess I should say thank you for that. But I won't. Cause you won't even tell me if a patch is coming this century.

^THIS is the kind of negative unproductive and unconstructive criticisim that kills game developers enthusiasim to patch the game.

Cry - Rich even said himself that when you wake up in the morning and you recieve emails saying "your game is great" or something constructively critical like "your game is great but it has this problem and this problem and this problem" it gives you the enthusiasim to really knuckle down and work on the game to improve it as much as possible.

He also said that when you go on the forums and read what people say, things like this very thread and others such as "Crytek has screwed us over" etc it kills your enthusiasim to patch the game which I can fully understand because its like going into your workplace (for any of those of you who have actually been in employment) and your boss telling you, your work is sh1t over and over again which to me and like any human being kill the enthusiasim to improive their work.

This guy who made this thread is nothing but an arrogant self righteous little human being who assumes he knows everything that is going on behind the scenes, Ask yourself how does he know they arent patching the game? how does he know how complex the game is? Has he ever worked in a development studio? Just how complex is Crysis 2 compared to other games since it runs on a completely random dynamic engine?

Well I can tell you from what Rich told me every time they fix something, another gets broken citing the complexition of the task they have before them so I believe patience should be warranted and this kind of bashing of the developers should stop immeadiately. Do something constructive and make a video of your problem.

And Really stop with the calling out of Cry - Adam because as his job involves Public Relations work he is bound by contract and law in what information he can deliver to you, however I am not and probably Rich isnt either. I would have thought people would have been more intelligent and realised the law behind PR work, your bound by your employers contract regarding information release.

Fanboy?

Now should I tattoo Crytek on my left ass cheek or my right?

I completely agree with the anology. Trading standards needs to look at the gaming industry as a whole before it gets out of hand. I'm not pointing a finger at Crytek or EA, I genuinely believe that because of the competition and the sheer amount of money involved in creating games the industry is going down a dark path.

The game was most definately rushed out, or they fell behind and still had to release the game on time. Bugs that were reported during the beta and demo and should not have made into the release version. And extensive playtesting of the final build would have brought up many other bugs that still made it through.

Yes but in the real world if you actually do do a **** job and your boss keeps telling you that hes not gonna wait around forever for you to shape up your act, no hes gonna fire you and get the next wippersnaper to take your place. I think everyone would agree that the single player is amazing and the multiplayer has great potential, but it seems this game was rushed out to fast so they could meet their quarterly goal, its kinda sad when companys have to do this to meet a deadline. The only ones that get screwed over our us the consumers.

just sold mine so this will be my last post. so many people sit and moan about how we got **** yet still dont do anything about it, it now happenes with nearly all games released and untill people do something about it , it will continue to happen. look at brink they have pretty much tested and taken out all the bugs so have brought release date forward... duke has been put back a month to work the rest of there bugs out thats 2 examples how to run a company not neglect your customers and have to wait a month for a fix. dont sit there and moan get a game that works and hope next time they learn from there mistakes. it might hit them when nobody buys there dlc

The singleplayer team finished on time, It was just Crytek UK that failed. Otherwise known as Free Radical that was basically going out of business before Crytke purchased them.
