Crytek: Is this game going DOWNHILL?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 5:35 am

I'm a long time Crysis fan since day one, but I'll be honest, when I first read some of the negative things about Crysis 2, I was suprised and concerned. Crytek has always been my favorite company and has consistently made an awesome gaming experience with each release. It concerned me that not having DX11 initially that the graphics would be perhaps "dumbed down", that the START button on the screen meant it possibly was a sloppy port of the consoles. However when I downloaded the MP demo and played it the first time, all the concerns I had were instantly diminished. I play the game on my 63" Samsung plasma via a 360 gamepad (yes I'm old now and use gamepads), with the graphics maxed with the sound pumping thru 7.1 surround sound. It is AWESOME. The graphics are absolutely incredible - even for being DX10. The music/sound is absolutely incredible as well. The more I played the demo, the more I want to play the final game! So what if it's not DX11 reads START in the menu. It really all just boils down to one thing... THE GAME IS FREAKIN FUN.

Crytek hasn't let me down one bit, and I honestly never should have doubted them. Crysis 2 is going to ROCK. period.

its dx9, with crappy oblivion HDR lighting.

actually according to the demos of the game tech back in 2010 the lighting is much better than that....especially on pc....

that said

12 hours with modular chapters nowadays is amazingly long and replayable for an fps (hell for a shooter in general).

yes I'd rather have an 80 hour game like DAO or 40+ hour hybrid like Mass Effect but hey for a straight shooter 12 hours is amazing

ME lasted that long because half of it was dialogue, one quarter walking around and only another quarter actual fighting. If you removed the other stuff, you'd be left with a standard 10-hour shooter.

and if you took all that away from any RPGs you'd have your average 10 hours long action game with RPG mechanics like Darksiders

what's your point?
