Crytek: Is this game going DOWNHILL?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 10:41 pm

Crysis is dying, and it has been obvious since we found it was being released on all 3 platforms. Already PC gamers notice that ALL the effort has been put into consoles with the "PRESS START TO BEGIN" text on startup. What an embarrasment. These are some issues that have really pissed me off:

1.
No lean in multiplayer
2. No prone in multiplayer
3. When you're hit it doesn't show what direction you're hit from
4. DX11 is meant to come in with a patch. Alright, this is a big one: EA could just be rushing this game so they can ultimately benefit from shareholders and stuff, but ffs. This is meant to be CRYSIS, "Can you're computer run it?!" but now PC gamer enthusiasts have been reduced to 9-years-old, console-quality bull crap.
5. Graphic options are ****. Don't know if it's true, but apparently Anti-Aliasing is on by default, he's running on his laptop so he can't even play the game because the framerate is so bad. Point being: where the hell are the graphic options??

There are good things about Crysis 2, the sound effects are pretty awesome, the graphics are good for DX9 and the game play is pretty alright.
But question is, what else has been encountered in the gameplay that is just pisses you off?

Crysis 2 was definitely not rushed. The game was supposed to release last year but was delayed until now.

I am not a MP guy so none of the issues you brought up influence me in the slightest.

I am also a console player so, crysis 2 (DX9 or else) is, by far, the VERY best looking game out there in my market (and face it..........it's pretty damn awesome on PC as well and you ARe gonna get your DX11 at launch)

campaign mode is a whopping 12 hours long

the only thing that could potentially upset me is the lack of modular chapters but so far it seems they will be in

Crysis 2 will be awesome. Pure and simple: MAXIMUM AWESOME. Well for me anyway, if it svcks for you then too bad, go play something else. Luckily for you, there are approximately 18 bagillion other games out there.

You have to remember that the game we are playing is a Beta. Also, they fixed the "press start to begin" thing.

No, we're playing a DEMO. As for the "press start" thing, it shouldn't have been there in the first place. It ever being there clearly shows that the PC version is a port of the Xbox 360 version. Anyone who has been following development of Crysis 2 knows how obvious it is that the Xbox 360 is the lead development platform.

Even if the game is a Xbox 360 port, we will have our DX11 on launch day, also there will be a mod/patch that fixes any mistakes caused by it being an Xbox port.

But question is, what else has been encountered in the gameplay that is just pisses you off?

1. why the hell would you want a worthless thing like lean in MP? and why is this enough of a reason to doubt the game?
2. prone is not very important at all, certainly not enough to make me change my mind on how good a game is.
3. showing where you are getting hit from is cheap and too much like CoD, and is about as realistic as getting a bloody screen.
4. DX11 is reletively worthless at this point in time. it just came out, so it would make very few differences in quality. the fact that it is delayed is a stupid reason to think a game svcks, you get it when you get it, and when you get it, you wont see much of a defference.
5. you do know you can edit the graphics in the game files anyway right? why dont you like graphics being more simple to adjust? and why are you complaining about AA if you get it without any performance drops?

implosion....nice try but people like the doomsayers in these forums will NEVER change their minds even if evidence is right infront of them.

Case in point, even AFTER people were shown directly from the lead designer that Drago Age 2 played exactly like DAO if you wanted to play with heavy pause and play and tactics they STILL believed that it could only be played as an hack and slash.....

Isn't seeing the direction you are being fired from an upgrade in this game?
That seems whack....

When ppl use adjectives like "whooping" to describe a 12 hr long campaign I die a little. We live in an era where 5-8 hrs of campaign is standard now and worth $60 on pc.

As per latest ads the SP is 10hrs long and usually these numbers are over inflated. For pc it shouldnt take more than 8 hrs for noobs

According to Crytek, they had multiple people try the SP sometime during development. And the shortest it took fro even a pro player was 12 hours.

For a FPS in the 21st Century, 12 hours is VERY good and VERY replayable.

I'm a long time Crysis fan since day one, but I'll be honest, when I first read some of the negative things about Crysis 2, I was suprised and concerned. Crytek has always been my favorite company and has consistently made an awesome gaming experience with each release. It concerned me that not having DX11 initially that the graphics would be perhaps "dumbed down", that the START button on the screen meant it possibly was a sloppy port of the consoles. However when I downloaded the MP demo and played it the first time, all the concerns I had were instantly diminished. I play the game on my 63" Samsung plasma via a 360 gamepad (yes I'm old now and use gamepads), with the graphics maxed with the sound pumping thru 7.1 surround sound. It is AWESOME. The graphics are absolutely incredible - even for being DX10. The music/sound is absolutely incredible as well. The more I played the demo, the more I want to play the final game! So what if it's not DX11 reads START in the menu. It really all just boils down to one thing... THE GAME IS FREAKIN FUN.

Crytek hasn't let me down one bit, and I honestly never should have doubted them. Crysis 2 is going to ROCK. period.

That is what we real and true PC gamers call a ported console game on PC, when it should had stayed PC exclusive only like the original.

Remember Crytek, how many awards did you make on Crysis 1? the PC exclusive game? and this is what you did since 2008.....and mind you Crytek is a PC supporting company....at least they were.

With all respect, but using a controller on PC? in an FPS game?

Sorry sir, but that alone makes me think you're post does not deserve to be heard.

Nothing personal.

If you had the option to make more money by putting your game on consoles, would you?

PS: If I did I would try to give the PC version the extra stuff that it deserves, but Crytek is busy, so i'm not going to bug them about anything.

If you were talking about me (Raptor94) I'm not a console player, I play PC.

This.

Self-proclaimed PC Elitists will never understand. They're to stuck up in their way of thought to accept that a few changes can be good.

And don't you (Logan and hor@gmail.com) dare call me a console player...because I've only played PC all my life.

So STFU and go play Crysis 1 if you hate it's kickass successor so much. And let us enjoy the best game ever in peace. We do just fine without your trolling.
