Yes, the high res texture pack for example REQUIRES a 64-bit windows. It would only make sence.

It says from the Dx11 page (that has since been taken down) that it's for 64 bit. Does that mean 32 bit people (and that's like 90% of users) won't be able to use the fancy graphics?

They can't have the high-res textures, that's all. It needs to have access to more than 3GB of ram.

The high res pack requires 64bit windows for access to 4gb ram. No 64 bit exe needed for that.

The game can only make use of this 4GB+ RAM is it's a 64bit-game/exe....

Actually, you're quite wrong. According to the Steam Hardware & Software survey, 56.65% of Steam users are using a 64-bit OS.

If they placed such a requirement for high-resolution textures, I would believe they did so for a very good reason indeed.

lol... I just gotta love how people are still biching like "oh this is still a console crytek wont do ****". Well TBH we all saw DX11 ADDON PACK, it PROVES everything u biched and whined wrong! it will contain every single DX11 feature that exists and also it will have HIGH resolution texture pack and ALSO it will have 64 bit version. God i love how crytek is going to rub their noses with **** once DX11 is released :D

@dzoni
Delivering the advertised dx11 3 months after release doesn't really back up the "for pc first" myth.
I don't think the missing dx11 was the biggest point of critique on the game. But it was the one point they could fix. Plus this is a thing that one could easily proove that it was not as advertised. Things like "the levels feel small and narrow and there is no freedom, cause it had to be made for consoles, blabla. Also the control set is directly copied from the console versions blabla." is something that you could easily strike down, saying it was an oppinion. Dx11 is not there. There is no discussion and oppinion it's just not there. It is a damn good thing it is coming, but you don't really believe that this will fix all the problems, do you?

Just not true ^^ But I think it's highly possible that they do a 64bit exe to circumvent problems. Would't expect any optimizations for 64 bit though.

You're not making sense. I don't support 64 bit -.-

And 32 bit users can't have high res textures? Are you kidding me? It needs more than 3gb of ram?? WHAT :(

*EDIT*
lol madness you got the same CPU as i, and you should better install 64 bit W7 and stop biching for nothing.

It's a myth that 64bit can only make use of 4Gb of ram. 64bit bit apps can address much more memory at one time, allowing games to use that memory to do extra things like, improve draw distance as you see in Crysis 1. 32bit apps can only use up to 4Gb of address space, which is limiting as you can see now days.

Just because the cpu supports it, does not mean that everyone has 64bit. It's only us clever ones who do :)

Who upgrades to a 64-bit OS just for this? I′d say his "biching" is quite justfied.

Last month people were bithing about the lack of a 64bit executable for Crysis 2 and now they bich because they're making one which performs better than the 32bit version.

Soz I misread you I thought you said "everyone who's playing Crysis 2 is playing it in 64 bit mode"
And my Windows 7 only comes in 32 bit. It specifically says on the box. It's an OEM disk

I can't think of a better reason to upgrade to 64 bit, besides windows 7 64 bit is awesome.

More virtual address space, not physical ram.
