I was going to buy the game this morning as it was released, but luckily I came across an article stating that Crysis 2 is dx9. I don`t have a clue about what on earth are you people at Crytek thinking about when doing this but I was looking forward on playing a technologically state of art game.
Seriously wtf??? DX9??? This game was supposed to support DX11.

Does anybody know any reasons behind this totally ridiculous move?

Because the consoles can only DX9. Why should they invest time for a feature which is only used for the small PC games market? In addition, the console kiddies think the graphics are still outstanding and that's the main market.

If they only make games for the sake of money they should rot away. It`s embarrassing for Crytek to release Dx9 game with their name.
I sure hope they release a dx11 patch, altough im a bit suspicious about if the game can actually just be simply patched to match all the dx11 goodies if it isn`t programmed to have dx11 to begin with.. I`m not a professional nor know too much about the subject, but sounds suspicious. I mean, if it was the case why wouldn`t all the capable games just get updated to dx11.

Paretto Rule states that 20% of PC Gamers buy 80% of the games. Do you think that 20% is still using DX9? Because I'd say that within that group are almost all the DX11 gamers and the rest would mostly be DX10.

I'd also suggest that the 20% of gamers who download 80% of all the hacked games are on DX9.

If a company sells top notch products they deserve to make lots of money and from what i've seen even though it is only dx9 Crysis 2 is excellent. It should only get better with Dx11. Exactly and just because they're playing doesn't mean they're buying. If your PC is your pride and joy it's much more likely you are buying a lot of games.

Ok but Paretto's rule of economics does not mean that 20% of the Pc gamers are buying 80% of one game, hence 20% of all video card owners did not purchase 80% of all crysis 2 sales...they are buying on average more games (have a larger game collection of varying titles) per year than the majority 80%.

I really don't get why DX9 users (and they certainly don't seem to be in a mojority on the forum) argue against DX11 it's as if they think the same staff working on DX11 effects could be fixing the servers instead.

At any rate I think it's obvious that if the game had've included DX11 that would've increased the sales of CRysis 2 on PC by more than enough to justify the costs. Especially if you include long term sales. Plus Nvidia bought a DX11 card for it's DX11 graphics card bundles Crytek probably already got fined money out of that 2 million according to the contract they have with Nvidia for missing the launch date.

If they don't include DX11 they'll probably get fined again.
