CTD always on road near Kvatch (using OOO)

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 9:36 am

Hi! I'm finally replaying Oblivion with Oscuro's Overhaul installed. I'm not using any other mods. I notice now I'm always getting a CTD on the road between Skingrad and Kvatch - usually very close to Kvatch. Saving and reloading, the CTD happens at exactly the same place. I've done a lot of searching on the web and what I could find had to do with load order of, like, a million different mods. But I'm only using OOO. I'm thinking it might be a buggy animal since OOO tends to localize them and I haven't had CTDs anywhere else.

Can anyone suggest a strategy for solving this?

This Should be Fixed with the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164539-relz-unofficial-oblivion-patch-320-unofficial-patch-supplementals/
Although I seem to have developed one closer to the Gotshaw Inn

Which version of OOO are you using? Never heard of it causing CTDs near Kvatch (or anywhere else with recent version either for that matter).

Oops, I'll have to double check when I get home this evening. It's definitely 1.3 or above. Probably 1.31.

1.3 is really old and was quite bugged. Install 1.33 Complete and update it to 1.34 Beta 5: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1159634-relz-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul-133/. Preferably do this from a save in a secluded cell (like the player home), load the save and wait for a respawn (4 days if on default), then make a new save. Also, note that you have to http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/OOO/OOO_Guide.html#upSave as OOO has switched from esp to esm since then.

I had a very mysterious crash when I tried to pass Gottshaw or Brina Cross that I discovered was being caused by MMM-MWL. I don't know why, since MMM-MWL is supposed to be compatible with OOO+MMM, probably just Oblivion having a moment.

Back on topic: the problem he was talking about is a fault in the AI Package for Ma'iq the Liar in this area. As Brozly said, UOPS fixed that.

Ah, Ma'iq. That troublemaker! Anyway, it's nice to have an exact cause in this case. I got a new computer and I'm about to install Oblivion on it and copy over my saves. Should the UOPS be installed first and then OOO? I may be using 1.33 already. But if not I'll be sure and update my saves.

Why have I never played OOO before? This mod is freakin awesome.

Thanks all!

I had a CTD every time at the intersection on the road from Skingrad to Anvil. When I would pass the Kvatch intersection I would CTD. The problem for my machine only was introduced in the UOP before the supplemental fixes, Installing the supplemental fixes fixed it for me.

It was strange because it happened only to me and one other poster, no one else. Suspect was a guard at Gottshaw who was deactivated in the latest UOP patches I believe.

Install the Unnoficial Patches before any mods. Pay attention to the readmes and/or prompt boxes while you are installing the patches you will need.

If the CTD happens as you going up the hill to Kvatch, just past the old man with the torch (don't remember his name) that happened to me some times without mods.
