CTD on load saved games

Today after fiddling with some patches I found I can't load any saved game anymore, Oblivion crash to desktop whenever I try to load a saved game, I removed the patches and even redownload some of the interested mods again, rebuilt the Bashed Patch time and again to no avail, the game just crash I see the load screen for 2 o 3 seconds then CTD.

I'm sure that is some mod I patched or moved but don't know what can be ( I tried and replaced all remember I touched) and now I'm in search of a tool to know which mod is the "malfactor" (I'm fairly sure is one). Some time ago I see around a tool that can help to restrict my issue but don't remember its name.

Can you help me,please?

Use Wrye Bash to see if you have missing masters. All you have to do is right-click on the save (in the Bash Saves tab) and choose 'Diff Masters'.

On Wrye bash I did that and was fine on that thing, about the CTD...I don't have it on load but when I load a saved games

I want to know whether you are unable to load saves in-game or unable to load from the main menu. If the problem is the latter, you need to investigate the save game's master files. Wrye Bash will also tell you if the saves are corrupt, which is another possibility. Do you have Wrye Bash installed?

I anolized the masters... well some mods was changed ( I removed those) but is very irrelevant in my opinion,one of those is "OMOBS Optional Combat setting.esp,another is an armor set and two wrong Open Cities patches... I played 10 days or so with that old load order

You need to be careful when updating saves. Sometimes saves have data in them that makes them dependent on those mods.

How did the INI regeneration go?


++ OOO-Magic_Script_Effect_Fix.esp [Version 1.33] <-- I do not think you need this, unless I missed something in your LO. It is mergeable, so there will be no problems removing it.

You need to sort your load order. There are plugins loaded in front of the Bashed Patch that should not be there.

You need to be careful when updating saves. Sometimes saves have data in them that makes them dependent on those mods.

I'm redoing the bashed patch just now

++ OOO-Magic_Script_Effect_Fix.esp [Version 1.33] <-- I do not think you need this, unless I missed something in your LO. It is mergeable, so there will be no problems removing it.


but is merged already, AFAIK that ++ mean that (other that have a + in the checkbox and is green)

You need to sort your load order. There are plugins loaded in front of the Bashed Patch that should not be there.


BOSS tend to leave all the unknown patches after the Bashed Patch, generally is a good thing but not all the times...
Apart than that I have to manually move some .esps for various reason like that "SM plugins all" I did it joining all the SM Patches together or manually moving Better Imperial city near the Bashed Patch and manually move TheOrderofNibenay after TheLostSpires if I don't do the last thing the compatibilty patch between the two don't works and the Bashed patch too

You can remove Oblivion.ini while the patch rebuilds...

Delete that plugin, and then rebuild the Bashed Patch. It will no longer be merged, and you should not notice any difference in the game since you have nothing overwriting OOO's script effect record. That add-on is for user using magic overhauls/modifcations that change that in a way that is incompatible with OOO. You can always check with TES4Edit if you want to be assured that it is (not) doing something useful.

BOSS does what it is supposed to. It is on the user to move those unknowns. Unknowns should not just be left at the end of the LO. I do not fully understand that last line. If you are talking about the patching showing up orange in Bash, you can just use TES4Edit's 'Sort Masters' command on it.

Do you have an older save that does not depend on the plugins that you removed? Add the plugins back to your load order, and follow the clean saves steps (COC Testinghall ...)

I don't have it but seeing that nothing works I'll add the missing plugins back and retry... IIRC I only hidden those esps...

That is fine. If adding them back works, the problem lies in the removed plugins...somewhere... For the sake of thoroughness, take out the mods/plugins you've added as well, for now.

I resolved by sostituting Better Imperial City.esp with the one I downloaded from TESNexus.
I rememeber that I merged that esp with Better Imperial City FPS patch.esp from the same archive with TES4Gecko thinking that a merge like that works...and didn't...

Merging mods (patches) that modify (modified) cells or the world spaces is risky, especially when you start talking about path grids. I do not recommend it. You have to check thoroughly afterward, if you do. Whenever you want to merge plugins such as those, you would be best off asking the modders. Vorians OK'd mering the cities, but those do not touch each other. I have not heard someone propose merging the FPS patches onto their masters. You could probably apply the patch manually with TES4Edit, but that might take a while...

Imagine if the team had to reapply that patch every time the updated the mod. Maintaining to main plugins is not as easy as it may seem. It is easier to offer the patch, and it is a plenty flexible solution for users. Do you even have reason to merge it?

Only diminish the active non importable,non mergeable esps... I'm very near the 255 caps

I see... I recommend merging the SM add-ons together. You could also drop TIE In, and wait for CorePC to release the overhauled TIE4MODs, which will be much more compatible. What is your BSA count? It looks like you could be getting close to the soft cap (total BSAs and plugins) as well.

For SM add-ons you mean Supreme Magicka ones or the SM patches? The SM DLC patches was already merged together successfully and AFAIK works
The BSA count tick 46 and the soft cap count hit 300 now(don't counting all the ghosted esps, of course), in the last times all the big mods is going to BSA and I'm start to have the soft cap problem

Supreme Magicka. StrategyMaster already made a merged version of the Refurbish plugins.

The Supreme Magicka plugins are all imported (green text in Wrye Bash) in my load order and all was ghosted except one, the Shivering Isles one is the only one not importable,then apart from merging all to master (SupremeMagicka.esp) I don't see what benefit in therm of soft cap can give that to me...
