CTD In morthal after Laid to Rest

Post » Fri Jul 17, 2015 2:45 pm

So after completing laid to rest I ctd every time I go into Morthal, I found it's actually a common problem and I was wondering if there was a fix. I don't have any saves before I did the quest so I can't load to a previous save.

Is it really a common problem? It never happened to me after completing that quest. You ctd on quitting the cave? If sot, use coc to get out of there. Open the console and type

help morthal

Look for the cells in the results and choose one, preferably an interior cell (the inn for example) and use the command

coc NameOfTheCell

If it works, get out of that cell and see what happens.

Oh, I forgot: before you quit the cave, how many objects do you have in your inventory? Too many objects give infinite load screens or ctds.

Let me clarify. I can leave the cave, even go to highmoon hall and leave Morthal but after that it's constant CTDs. Papyrus doesn't show up anything, it's not my load order. Google searching "Skyrim Morthal CTD" shows it's a rare problem after Laid to Rest

edit: Did some testing, the area around Morthal is fine but once I enter the town limits it crashes. Furthest I can get is to the bridge next to the lumbermill.

That's a really odd bug. Never happened to me. Have you tried going somewhere else and waiting/resting for 30 days until all the respawn timers have been reset and then going back to Morthal?

That did it! Thank you for that, I was going to be annoyed if I had to make a new character xD

Whew! Glad it worked for you and now I know what to do if it ever happens to me.
