CTD right when I kill a monster

Ok, here goes...

So I have been greatly enjoying my FCOM setup and using Oblivion XP as a leveling mod. I have had previous CTD problems when fast traveling but have resolved them. So for a couple weeks now I have been (relatively) crash free. :celebration:

Recently however, I have encountered a problem where I will get a black screen and instant CTD right when I finish off killing a monster. :brokencomputer: It's strange because it usually does not happen and I can kill 20-30 monsters with no problems then all of the sudden I will get CTD when killing say a headless zombie. I've tried just disabling the monster via console before which helped me avoid the crash but I'd really like to not have to keep doing this just to play the game. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Another item of note... for some reason it seems like it is mostly happening only when I kill the last monster of a group. For example I'm in a dungeon in Blood & Mud fighting a large group of zombies called "Diseased" and I kill like 10 of them no problem then every time I go to finish off the last one I'm consistently crashing. :confused:

Update: I have tried disabling scripts via console 'TSCR' and this also seems to eliminate the problem leading me to think that the issue here is probably with Oblivion XP possibly conflicting with some other mod I have. I've exhaustively gone through my readme files and have yet to single out the conflict though.

Your Deadly Reflex main esp is at the very bottom :brokencomputer: DR5 is complex enough that it could definitely cause CTDs when misplaced.

Yeah I usually just trust BOSS for my load order for the most part but I read somewhere that DR needed to be placed after bashed patch so I just recently moved it there to see what happened.

I moved it back to mid load order where BOSS puts it though Im still having the CTD when killing monster. :shrug:

Sorry to bump my own thread but does anyone know anything about this problem? Ive been searching the forums with no luck so far. I wish I knew more about OBSE scripting to be able to really troubleshoot which script line is causing the crash.

If someone could even point me to a little guide on how I may go about digging through script to possibly find something I would appreciate that.

Doubt it is causing your CTD issues but you can remove OOO-Level_Stock.esp as it won't make any difference when using Oblivion XP.

Are you using the OOO sword Light of Dawn? It has issues which hopefully should be fixed in the next version.

I've removed the OOO-Level.esp and it didn't fix the crash of course but I thank you for the pointer to clear a spot in my load order.

Alas, no I am not using Light of Dawn. I am using multiple weapons some of both magic and normal weapons and the problem persists. CTD right when a monster is killed even if my companion or summon strikes the killing blow. Frustrating... <_<

Don't know if it's the source of your problem, but

A0 Salmo the Baker, Cobl.esp [Version 3.08]

is also known to cause CTDs.

And adding to that; If there is any other mods that change the way a skill or attribute levels up, remove those too - though I don't see anymore.

But keep that in mind in the future.

Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp [Version 3.2.0] <--update to 3.2.6

I'm more concerned about ObXP though as I'm the most familiar with it. If you really think it is the cause, then here's how you test it.

Remove the mod. and then make a clean save(saving without the mod installed). If that solved it, my only suggestion is to make sure you are using the OBSE18 version.
