I have Fallout stutter remover, NMC's texture pack, maxed out. I have done the threaded ai thing and added the line underneath it to allow dual core processing... I actually want to play the damn game, not have it CTD or freeze every five minutes (NO exaggeration here, not even kidding). I hate making threads like this as well. So if anyone would help I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, let me go ahead and try and offer what insight I can with the situation.

First of all, you are correct, Rivet City tend to be a little crash prone, I myself have had some issues with the science lab there (in fact, this is the only repeatable crash I can still produce at the moment in my game that I have seen so far with 80 some hours of game play). With Bethesda games, I basically get into them expect some issues and crashes - they are simply too large not to have issues most the time I wager.

My personal assumption with this is actually that mods are causing the crashes (at least in my case), but I am unsure honestly of what one(s) it may be - and since it doesn't always happen for me I can usually crash and load a couple times if I need to so I can get in.

You do use a number of mods I have played with in the past and dropped over time looking at your LO, but to be honest, most of what I see in there is at least pseudo popular mods that are used in a lot of mod builds.

Overall though, if you are crashing every 5 min or so, there have to be some bigger problems going on here than just a single mod having some issue (unless you were exaggerating some due to frustration). You may try getting rid of FSR as I have heard it to cause more crashes for some people while alleviating them for others.

I forget your system specs, forgive me as I know you have posted them before working out other issues, but you could try making some adjustments to game settings. I myself have a pretty decent system, but I am intensive enough on it with my game that I tweaked some game settings for graphics a little to amp up performance. This did in turn help cut down on crashes to some degree, or at least it provided me with the perception that it did. If memory serves me correctly then you have already tweaked away at your graphics card as well to cut out any bottlenecks or issues there too.

If all else fails, and a vanilla game does not present you with the consistent crashes, I would say get a fresh install and try adding mods one at a time and testing some things out as best you can. Travel to trouble spots and see if you get crashes, etc. This will not 100% ensure you completely avoid issues, but you may find out some mod is causing issues or conflicts and making a crash. Its time consuming, but one should not be under the impression that making modifications to a game won't be time intensive to get working correctly - you are after all fiddling with the very mechanics of the game (which had its own issues to begin with), so issues are bound to pop up.

Also, I suppose it would help to ask, are you in the middle of any quests at the moment - or does it crash when you just spend some time at Rivet City? Could be a mod conflicting with something in a quest then.

I dunno, that is what I have for right now.

First of all I do not know how to uninstall FSR but it did fix stutter with my game significantly. I did manage to get through the science lab after switching characters but as I walked away from rivet city, CTD... I am doing this as part of the MQ. I am traveling to the Jefferson memorial to search for clues about dad's whereabouts.

My system specs are pretty good, this is a new computer after all:

6 GB Ram
ATI 5850 GFC
2.70 GHz Processor

The only mod I can think of that would drastically change Rivet City is MZC but there is no way I will take that off because that is my favorite mod of all time.

For the crashes every 5 min it might be a bit of an exaggeration but it happens pretty frequently. Oh and I have disabled the auto save feature, it has tended to help with many crashes in the subway.

Well I went through every readme for every mod I have active and discovered that one esp for RIL was in the wrong place, so i fixed that and everything, CTD and freezes have seemed to stop, apparently the esp affected the Jefferson Memorial which is close to rivet city which must have affected my CTDs.

So alright haha can't wait to play the game for once!!!

Edit: While I'm here does anyone know how to take screenshots? I can't get them to work for some reason, and some1 told me look for them in your Fallout 3 install directory but idk where that is...

You should know if they are working cause a little message should pop up when you take the screen shot. The setting is in the ini file, you want to make sure it is set as such: bAllowScreenShot=1 (if it is not set to 1, then set it to 1).

EDIT: Glad you got the CTD sorted out.

Well, I fixed the CTD in the rivet city area but guess what???........... Door: to Vault 112 CTD, [censored] this game haha :banghead:

Edit: Well I got by it, just had to unequip everything modded on my character, and reload the save. Wonderful.

Edit 2: More CTD and freezes but mostly with doors involving the MQ line, weeeeeeeeeeeird.
