CTD on save

I have no idea either. Sometimes it looks like everything is well. You can save and progress your game until your game crashes when trying to save. Once it happens, perhaps you cannot save your game anymore, thus playing your character further is impossible.

This probably isn't going to help since it's purely anecdotal, but; I've encountered this off and on, and it, every time, has been from:

-Overloading a COBL Alchemy Sorter container with many, many mod added and vanilla ingredients (this was a year+ ago though)

- Trying to save the game with h u g e stacks of something in my inventory. Bonemeal from grinding, in my case. It'll handle 1-2k, after that it's probably going to crash on save.

Also
- Way way back when, I had this issue due to a corrupt container, but I don't recall the details there, and thats long since been purged. I do remember that it was a corrupt container though. Isn't that helpful? :P

Have you tried rolling back to an earlier save? I mean, can you save with an earlier save, any save? Have you made any changes recently?

Weird thing is, if I turn on Streamsave, it seems as though it saves successfully, and then crashes as soon as it's done (by save successfully, I mean that I'm able to load that save). If I save using the menu, I get a CTD and the save is corrupt. I haven't tried saving via the console yet, and I haven't tried using an earlier save either. The only changes I've made were adding StopDarkBrotherhood.esp and RGO (both of which I disabled to see if they were the problem; no love :().

[EDIT] Saving from the console still gives a CTD, but previously working saves still work. I'm just going to keep playing from that working save and see if it happens again.

Try regenerating your Oblivion.ini. I have had Oblivion get upset with me for changing the movement controls in the INI, instead of using the main menu or something...so quirky.

Regenerating the .ini didn't work :( Anyway, I went back to the save that seemed to be working. I was inside a house. I went outside, Streamline autosaved for me, and then I fast travelled. Streamline saved once again, and then BAM, CTD. But, as I said earlier, Streamline's making successful saves, when I save manually, it creates a corrupt save. Either way, I get a CTD.

Try removing Pluggy, which means deactivating anything that depends on it as well. Reinstall OBSE, move pluggy out of the plugins folder. Move the pluggy folder and the Oblivion.ini out Oblvion\My Games...that is all I can think of...oh try saving in a new profile. OBSE and pluggy have their own save information, and creating a new profile is simpler than trying to remove the right things. Try a new test save in the new profile first.

I moved Pluggy out of the plugins folder... I didn't bother to deactivate any pluggy-dependent mods, but it seems to be working. I'll need to try a few more saves to make sure, but I think Pluggy is the culprit. Where should I post about this?

Were you using v132? Did you remove that folder as well? Something may have just become corrupt in there.

If you have the archive you downloaded before, it is probably fine. Pluggy is not perfect, but the crashes it causes seem to be consistent and not harmful. You should be able to clean save without it and then add it back in afterward. I think most mods that use Pluggy use it for extended (optional) functionality. If you do not want to risk the crashes, do not reinstall it. I think that the functionality is worth it, and the crashes being known helps greatly. You could try posting in the Pluggy thread with your load order, just in case it is still being worked on. It would be nice if someone updated it because Pluggy causing crashes is not a new topic.
