CTD when loading save file

Post » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:44 am

Hey guys, as the title says, my game is CTD upon trying to load a previous save file. I'm pretty sure the issue has got something to due with the mods I am running (30 or so). I was having issues with the Steam workshop the other day and decided to unsubscribe and subscribe to all of the mods I had (Read online that it sometimes helped). Anyone have any advice as to how I can get my game back up and running?

Is it just the one save file that won't load, or is it all of your save files not loading?

Have you recently added any mods? If so, try disabling those and see if you can get the game to load. Also, have you sorted your load order using BOSS or another utility?

Recheck the readme files that came with your mods to see if the author notes any conflicts with other mods that you're using.

My next suggestion would be to disable all of your mods and see if you can start a new game. That would rule out any problems with your install.

Also, post your load order. Someone might be able to spot something that's not right.

In BOSS, you can select Plain Text as a format for output of the BOSS log. Set that, run BOSS, and then copy/paste the text file to a post.

Hmmm, not seeing that option. Where can I set it to display it in plain text?

In the BOSS GUI window, there's a box on the left that says "Output Options." The plain text output option is in a drop-down inside that box (default is HTML).

Let's try this -

Navigate to your C:\Users\[Username - will be the name of the Windows account you use to play]\AppData\Local\Skyrim folder. There is a text file there named plugins.txt that will list all of your mods. Open that in Notepad, and then copy/paste it here.
