(Keep in mind, this is not the type of crash where it freezes and then it goes "Skyrim has suddenly stopped working", the game just shuts down for no reason, no error report or anything, so I can't find the cause. I use BOSS to load my mods in correct format, so it has nothing to do with my load order. The SKSE version I use is 0.1.6.9.
ALSO ALSO, Skyrim worked perfectly for me before, even with this aged laptop it worked fine, so don't say that the reason why I get CTDs is that my laptop is too old.)
I use Skyrim nexus for mod managing, and then later on I used SKSE so then some of the mods I use could work properly. At first, the chances of getting a CTD were pretty low. I got them after seeing a missing texture on some random bandit, or after playing for a long period of time. I'm the type of person who doesn't stick to the exact same list of mods, I tend to add/remove them whenever I see one I like.
However, after installing wet and cold, as well as installing wet and cold - ashes, I started getting CTDs whenever I tried getting to certain places. I was in windhelm, and I tried getting to Traitor's rest via horse, but every time I got close to it I got a CTD. As it turns out the cause of that CTD was that a blood dragon was spawning, I disabled Deadly dragons, killed the dragon, and continued on without any CTDs, but then later on I got another CTD. I fast-travelled back to breezehome and did a clean save, I still got a CTD later on when I was playing.
Getting frustrated, I began running SKSE with a certain mod disabled to see if any of my mods were causing the CTDs, but whatever mod I disabled I STILL got them. I played vanilla Skyrim without SKSE, still got a CTD after I fast-travelled.
And now its come to the point where I have ran out of ideas on what to do, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has a solution.
PLEASE no comments like: "amg i also g0t this err0r t00!!!1 plzzz fixxxxxxxx!!!!!"
I have played this save for a very long time now, and I REALLY do not want to restart.
I'll put the mods I use in a separate post.
