Okay, well, I know some of us were still holding out that pauldrons would be separate pieces again, but based on what we saw in the new E3 footage I'm pretty sure we can rule that out. Here's a screenshot showing armor in inventory with pauldrons attached:

I'm not too upset, but I would have liked it better to have separate pauldrons.
