Cuirasses and greaves are now merged for sure

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 3:26 pm

Wait a minute. Less armour customisation is why Morrowind was a superior game to OB? Apart from the fact that not everyone shares that opinion, I am sure I am not alone in thinking the universal scaling, and quest markers, were something to do with it.

He confirms it between 1min and 2mins of the video First he doge’s the question then tries to put a positive spin of the worst news ever. What do u think he is saying?

Sorry if it's been done before but if u don't comment and it will go away

It has been done before, but don't worry about it. That particular interview does not confirm that cuirasses and greaves are merged, as is confirmed by Vsions in post #13 in this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?showtopic=1205696 :)

My guess is that some armor will include merged pieces and other armor will not. After all, we saw both merged and separate armor pieces in Oblivion.

Two things that at this point appear to be out(Quest markers because of the Clarvoance spell)

I'm going with some other people on this, they are combined but you can customize them using the smithing skill or hire a smith to do it for you.

Same Armor, different configuration. So, let's wait and see.

I was thinking this might be it
After all a hauberk protects the chest, abdomen and upper limbs but was a single item

Ohhhh, just thought what if the armor crafting is like made up of different parts, as the 2 pictures show, like

Leather straps
Right iron pauldron
Left Iron pauldren
Leather under shirt

you then craft as many or as little as you want to the final arnor,

That would be coooool.

That interview is not definite. Just the way he words everything there's no way to use it as a definite answer, though it seems like joined armor is in (he kinda worked around them all). However, PlayStation Magazine has already confirmed one set suits of armor.

Has anyone considered the possibility that there are some sets that are merged, like the way that robes functioned in Oblivion, and perhaps there are some separate individual greaves and cuirass pieces that you can mix and match?

I'm pretty sure they are doing this because it is WAY easier. Look at the gap between Morrowind and Oblivion for customization? (which is why oblivion svcked in comparison) Bethesda is going downhill fast in the RPG department. Even RUNESCAPE sounds like it's going to have more customization...

This game is feeling more and more like Fallout, where the only customization we are going to be able to do is boots and a helmet... Hopefully someone will mod the crap out of this so we can have a classic Morrowind style game again.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to buy this game. But I'm probably gonna have to mod the crap out of it to get the type of experience I expect from an Elder Scrolls game. I had to with Oblivion.

Fallout actually had more slots for gear than oblivion in terms of biped objects, they just weren't used in vanilla.

How about.... "I really don't give a damn"

I'm all for advanced character customization, but this is so minor, I don't understand why people are freaking out about it.

I would prefer Morrowind style armor myself, but its not such a huge factor that I am viciously angry about it.

Does it really matter if cuirasses and greaves are merged together? As long as we can mix and match our shirts and pants, I'm happy. And I'd rather have good looking armor (cuirasses and greaves merged) than bad/weird/not as cool looking armor (cuirasses and greaves not merged). And as far as customization, try finding another RPG with more customization than Oblivion or Morrowind and had good gameplay.

And that was subsequently de-bunked during E3 which showed INDIVIDUAL PIECES (helmet, gauntlets, boots) in the inventory screen.

No, you can't wear boots at all unless you have a matching helmet.
By that I meant curaiss and greaves. That has already been confirmed. PlayStation mag confirmed chest and legs are joined, and E3 confirmed helmet, gauntlets, and boots could still be changed.

They didn't give a source. I got a quote but that's it (I didn't have the ten bucks to buy it).

Where did you see/hear that boots have to have a matching helmet?

Playstation Mags exact qoute, "clothing will be simplified, with outfits and armor sets coming as a single suit rather than separate parts." We already know this to be wrong, with visual evidence of separate parts.

The boots/helmet was sarcasm. No, we know that everything except the chest and legs are separate.

They didn't in Oblivion. I hope you're right, but the more news I hear and the more writing on the wall I read, the less hope I have for Skyrim as far as bringing back that classic Morrowind customization feel. Please, Bethesda, prove me wrong. Very, very wrong.
