Cuirasses and greaves are now merged for sure

Still not seeing what's the big deal about...

To be honest it is not the end of the world.
But try to see bigger picture, please.
With each next game developers are removing or reducing amount of awesome little details that hooked me up (and a lot of other players) to TES games

Just few examples
TES2>TES3
-advantages/disadvantages (area of exploits, but still it allowed to create more customized character when compared to birthsigns)
-languages (they were broken in game, but idea was awesome and could be fixed, but instead they decided to remove them)
-world size (90% randomly generated, but still size was impressive)
-celebrations (it was complicated, but interesting)
-gold weight (+bank system)
-dual wielding (this part brings my hopes up, that each next TES game will slowly return to awesome ideas of Daggerfall, but I understand that it is far fetched)

TES3>TES4
-numerous spells (some loss explained by world design, some by pure laziness)
-weapon types (spears, crossbows, etc)
-belts, pauldrons, l/r gloves (why? I don't know)
-skills (some related to loss of weapons and spells, some by "optimizing")
-ability to throw out any item you want (+much more weightless items)
and awful GUI

TES4>TES5
-attributes (decreased number of attributes is experiment, but I personally dislike idea of simply decreasing anything)
-skills (one hand and two hands? really? axes and blades are soooo similar, you swing, they hurt. with same logic we could unite all magic schools, because you wave hands, say gibberish words and stuff happens, right? why we even have one and two hand separation? if maces are the same as daggers, then shortswords are also close to greatswords. lets don't stop half-way, but simplify weapon and magic disciplines to 2 skills- combat and magic skills)
-spell creation (but since we can mod things, we still are able to create our own spells, simply in less convenient way)
-birthsigns (and don't even mention those rocks- it is not the same)
-classes (honestly only in Arena classes meant something, but since Daggerfall class only defines the beginning play style. Still I dislike simply removing them.)
and more weightless items (I still hope that carrots weight 0.1 pound, that's why item had 0 weight, since only full pounds appear and when you carry 10 carrots, they start to weight 1+ pound)

And apparently now armor is simplified once again.
If we sum up every cool and interesting things we lost since TES2, it is much

P.S. Sorry if I forgot something.

By the time we get to TES IX when you put in the disc it will say "Congraturations You Haved SAVE Teh Earth." TES X wont even have a disc to play, the box will come with a hand written napkin from Todd with a drunkenly written "Thank You, I was running out of malt liqueur".

Ladies and Gentlemen, a textbook case of "they're removing stuff and it's horrible".

They're not removed, they're changed.
World size is smaller, but more compressed, no two cities look exactly the same anymore.
Pauldrons are removed, instead we have full armor that look better than just a vest.
Spell creation was changed to more dynamic spellcasting.
Number of skills don't matter, you can still do the same things.
...

Or if you want to be complete, start with arena.
After all, they're dumbing down TES since 1996

And somehow I know there will be people on this forum praising designers of sticker and napkin, and talking about how they improved things over putting disc and getting "Congraturations You Haved SAVE Teh Earth." line.
Todd: "Why people play games and improve their skills? To win the game, right? So now we removed middle process. Instead of playing game to be a winner, you can get sticker and put it on your forehead to be a winner"

P.S. Tnx for lulz, I needed it, because after reminding myself what amount of things we lost, I fell slightly depressed now

Ok, if you request
TES>TES2
-real classes (with gamechanging limitations)
(only loss, but since it isn't party based game it isn't that bad thing)

1)Yes I agree on that, but still it is shame that we lost realistic size of province
2)why not to make one peace armor then, it could be designed to look even better
3)more dynamic? can't evaluate until haven't tried, just saying that idea sounds horrible
4)And if number of skills don't matter then why not to remove skills and allow us to do anything?
Hey, we can still do the same things, right?

There is obviously NO conclusive evidence, especially concerning the whole elven armour/ leather and iron armour pictures, which should be made clear by now. All we can do is wait for the Q and A (which still remains kind of an issue due to the near torturous waiting time) and hope they actually clear things up because this whole armour thing is turning into an unnecesarilly huge issue (unnecessary because it's been unadressed after all this time, not because all these armour shenannigans aren't important)

Yes, yes, we know. Every decision Beth make is the correct one because they are perfect and always know what's best.

It's an issue of style and customization. I could use that style in Morrowind. I could use it in Oblivion, too, minus the greaves under the skirt. But if the cuirass and greaves are combined, then that style becomes impossible. And no, whatever armor altering system they seem to be implementing will not make up for that loss.

i will gladly give up greaves if they allow different designs of the same armor. it would be nice to have different types of leather and steel armor instead of everyone wearing the same thing all the time. i guess clipping issues must have been to much or something but hopefully the trade off is worth it.

I completely agree ( though sorry i have to add that there technically were different types of steel armour in OB) The many different types of bonemould in Morrowind was a fantastic idea that they should have expanded upon. Except one of the majour benefits to it was the fact that you could do more with those different armour variations due to there being MORE armour slots like having two different bonemould pauldrons, among other combinations.

Dont be depressed. Skyrim will be good. Just different.

Dam it that sounds a bit hollow. I wish there were 2 Skyrims coming out. One that was Super Hard Core for Ye Old fans. And the regular Skyrim which really seems to be made for me. I feel for you guys. :sadvaultboy:

Fine then, then they're making TES into CoD...

In TES VI we won't have any choice at all, the story will be linear and there won't be open world. Obviously they do that, they've removed so much because the casual players hate things, so they will remove even more!
The signs are obvious! They're just going to release mediocre, unchanged games every year from now on. They will NEVER add anything new to them, just remove things. New things like Dragons and Radiant Story are things casual gamers hate so they won't be in the series, ever.
