tell us a story of a Culinary Disaster you had while cooking

back in my first year of College, I was terrible at keeping my fridge properly stocked (as most are their first time living away from their home).. got home one evening and wanted something simple, so I grabbed a pot and a box of Kraft Dinner..
So, after the noodles were cooked I drained the water and opened the fridge to grab the Margarine and Milk to mix the cheese in with. my bottle of milk sounded a little "slushy", so I checked the expiry date to see it had expired over the weekend..

Now, what would make sense would have been to go across the Street to the Gas Station i was living across from and buy some Milk, but I was a broke College Student and it was far cheaper to just grab some milk in bulk from the Supermarket the next day so I said to myself "I'll just find an alternative substance in here somewhere"..

First, I considered using some of the Cream i put in my morning Coffee, however I had been grabbing my Coffee from Tim Hortons on the way to class for about a month so it was Expired as well..
So, I decided the most appropriate substitute I had was some Chocolate Milk I had in the fridge..

so, I substituted the Milk in Kraft Dinner with Chocolate milk, and it was nauseating.. I haven't eaten Kraft Dinner since..

So, tell us a Story of one of your Culinary Disasters..

Using sugar instead of salt! Ever ate a sweet noodle? It isn't good at all!

https://warosu.org/data/fa/img/0075/90/1389496785147.jpg would that ever seem to be a good idea? It would've been better just to eat it with some added water (just enough to moisten the cheese powder).

I accidentally did the old "orange juice in the cereal" one day. That's about it though.

when you have limited resources at your disposal, you try and make do with what little you have available

Chocolate Milk in KD eh. I have done that as well and it was very bad. Not enough to keep me from eating KD again though.

I was once making hamburgers. I bought the ground beef and mixed in some eggs. I forgot to buy bread crumbs or even bread for that matter... So I looked around. I saw some Quaker Oats. I figured it would work and it did. The thing was I used Quaker Oats cookie mix by mistake. The Burgers were really sweet. I didn't like them but my girl friend did. I didn't know I used cookie mix until she later asked me what happened to the cookie mix and I asked "what cookie mix?" and she said "the Quaker Oats mix."

So it is kind of a mix of disaster and lucky accident.

Oh yes, once I wanted to drink something while I was eating. I though: Juice! There wasn't any typical fruits that we make juice here in brazil in the house, but there were a few apples. Now I know how to make a delicious Apple Juice! Sometimes our adventures in the kitchen rewards us
