Cultural humor

My wife of 25 years is a Filipina, and I am American. For 25 years we've gotten some good laughs at making fun of each other's cultures. Her personal favorite is "Americans and cheeseburgers" :D

I'm just curious, how do you good people feel about cultural humor? I personally think if you can't laugh at yourself you need to lighten up a bit. And there are a lot of reasons for us Yanks to laugh at ourselves! :D

It is my personal opinion that too many people are way too sensitive about way too many things these days. I think we have become too preoccupied with ourselves and have become too whiny about the tiniest of slights. I think we need to grow up. We need to learn to laugh at ourselves and to let others laugh at us. I think we should stop expecting others to shield us from all of the potentially upsetting things that people might say about us. I think we need grow thicker skins and be advlts and not take offense at words. That is my opinion.
