Cumulative Speculation related to TES V #15

Bethesda Softworks is probably publishing a Natal title. I doubt Bethesda Game Studios is making one.

Hey xbox 360 gamers. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but Bethesda is going to be developing a "project natal" title (TESV might use Natal tech).

"...70 percent of the publishers are now developing titles for Project Natal. The company revealed a modest listed of Natal developers during this past Tokyo Game Show. The list included names such as Bethesda, Capcom, Konami, and Ubisoft."

Source: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1059115p1.html

The line is near the end of the article.

Nah, that'll be the Wii title they've been working on for a while now. If you've got motion controls on one platform why not do it on multiple?

But the article did specify developers. I hope you are right, and that motion control is kept away from future games. I prefer the precision I can get from my fingers on a game controller or keyboard - my other motor control (arms, legs, torso) isn't nearly as fine-tuned.

Even more...your proficiency at playing an RPG should never rely on twitch abilities lest it divorce itself from the genre of RPG. I very much hope TES stays far away from full on motion sensor controls.

It's extremely hard for me to imagine Bethesda Game Studios developing a Natal title. It works for arcade games, but for big open-world games- no.

Hell, Todd Howard thinks the http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/07/todd-howard-wii-is-a-kids-toy-ps3-and-xbox-360-are-for-evil-killfests/, so I really really doubt he has a much better view of Natal.

 TES V will never be for Natal. That would destroy the game. Natal isn't that good. It could never be used for an Elder Scrolls game because it is too weak, TES series is now multiplatform, it would ruin the game, it would require Bethesda to change the entire game for Natal(only for one platform), the controls would never work, it would destroy all that remains of the foundation of TES series, and it would just be wrong.

Well, it would really just change gameplay up. I oppose a move to Natal, however.

Just change gameplay up? Do you know how dumbed down an Elder Scrolls game would have to be to work for Natal? What about the fact that combat will become more based on player skill than ever before? The series that started out as a true RPG series would become an arcade game series with motion control.

To be fair, it's been said that Natal may come to the PC as well, so a game for Natal would be on both Xbox 360 and PC. And Seti, I'm sure you're pretty aware of how Bethesda treats PS3 gamers.

But there really isn't a chance TESV will be for Natal. Not because it would be dumbed down (which I disagree with but it is NOT something I'm looking to argue about), but because it's just very very unlikely. Like I said before, Todd Howard thinks the Wii is a toy, so he wouldn't dare make a full ES game for Natal.

My guess is that they're developing an Elder Scrolls Adventures-esque game for it. Think about it, a linear hack-n-slash like Redguard would work great on Natal.

I also don't want to argue about that, but surely you don't believe the depth of an Elder Scrolls game would work with Natal, do you? I'm just curious about why you disagree with that.

I do, and I have my reasons, but I don't feel like stating them right now.

I am more that it is consider a wasteful use of resource just to try out an experimental control that just barely came out. One have to consider the idea that they have to find a control for every interaction for the gameplay (put sword away without cutting his own leg, walking, casting spells, opening a bag). Its a gimmick.

Why ya surprise by this? The dev always comes and looks around in the forum. Nothing new or special.

What you said about Natal and TES V translated into: Bethesda will step on TES series and throw it from the top of a 150 story building. Surely you can see why I would be upset.

I too would be upset if TES V used Natal tech, again, i was just posting what i saw.

Its no big deal, either they do use Natal or they don't.

If they used Natal, how would ps3 players be able to play whatever that game is(not truly TES V)?

Have people given much thought to what the soundtrack of TES V will be like? I think this is one of the few things we haven't speculated about yet. I want http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPEEp5R_pOo&feature=related to be the theme song of TES V.
