Cumulative Speculation related to TES V #17

The creation of this thread is to keep speculated information of future TES series in one place. As quoted:

More recent interviews of note:

August 17th, 2009: Pete clarify many things of what happen in QuakeCon in this blog: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2009/08/17/clarifying-about-next-elder-scrolls-game-mmo-etc/

Also, the first Elder Scrolls Novel, http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017, and it's release date, November 24th, 2009.
Further, an Amazon plot synopsis that was later removed indicates TES:V will take place 200 years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. Here is the http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:LTwbGwuYMjgJ:www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/1848566867 of the page via Google archiving.
Mkay, apparently that cache archive has been overwritten. In that link's stead, here are proofs http://s56.radikal.ru/i151/0910/07/1139f395d0ce.png and http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu244/MrTissueBox/TheElderScrollsV200yearsafterOblivi.jpg. Here also are posts http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1013535&st=180&p=15180738&#entry15180738, http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1046946&st=0&p=15191628&#entry15191628, and http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1046946&st=0&p=15191628&#entry15191628 from the user who first informed us of the 200-year leap before both Amazon and Waterstones spilled the beans.

January 6th, 2010: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kotaku/2010/01/06/chatting-with-fallout-and-oblivions-todd-howard, at the 9:30-10:30 mark Todd Howard said: "[...] we spend a lot of time adding to the engine, [...] and we've sort of been doing that with the big new game [we've been] making since we finished Fallout 3. You know we finished Fallout 3 over a year ago so that whole time has been spent re-doing a large part of our basic technology[...]". Essentially confirming that their next big game has been Bethesda's main focus only since Fallout 3 went gold on October 8, 2008, a little more than a year ago. Considering the fact that Bethesda's games take 3-4 years to develop, we may not hear about TESV for some time.

UPDATE: I've zipped and uploaded the Google Archive I saved. Download's http://www.mediafire.com/?zt0jtmunzjj through Mediafire (blech, but unless you guys know of a better free file-hosting service...). Unzip and open the html document to see the confirming archive of Amazon's page.

Please note the following, regarding this topic:

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when - or if- it is going to be released, it is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be or any other subject of that type, they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Some of you are treating this as a personal chat box with one liners and little substance. Again, that will not be acceptable.

If you have something of value to add, then great, but there is no requirement to make posts just for the sake of it. The moderators will be keeping a close eye on this thread.

Woohoo first post.

I guess at this point, we really don't have any tangible evidence of a TES:V announcement any time soon. Too bad...Guess I can look forward to a New Vegas reveal at E3.

I don't remember, but since 2007 it's either been in June or July.

I think that might be GDC.

I have a question about the "working on the big thing for a year" idea in the OP. How much of the 3-4 year dev cycles is pre-production, brainstorming, concept art, etc? Because if I'm reading right he said they were working on the engine for a year, but the concept art, story ideas and such may have already been going on.

hmm do you think that with this tes trivia question the first one being about an ancient king of skyrim that they are perhaps trying to allude to anything? sure there doing the trivia to promote the book but perhaps they also want to inspire more intrest into skyrim and its lore especial if the game is eligibaly going tot be based there, they'd probly want to make sure players are aware of upcoming lore in the game and dont get confused if this game suddenly mentions the underking and people associate with acrtus... i doubt thats what there doing but always hoping :(

That's just it. I don't believe the entire production would halt simply because of an engine overhaul. There are many things that can be done despite not being able to actually make the game itself. Much planning, laying out of the story, mechanics, lore, etc can be done.

We already had a topic about that, and it got closed so now we have to talk about it in the Official Multiplayer Tread. Lets use that.

Well it could be useful in this topic because maybe it destroys the idea of TES V from being releasing this year or even next year since there are almost people working on it and its been in development since 2006 or so this article says... just maybe....

Zenimax Media Online has absolutely nothing to do with Bethesda Softworks, the games they make, or the teams they use. There would be no splitting or resources.

What is the next biggest game show? GDC? Is Bethesda going to be at any game shows before E3?

GDC 2010: March 9-13

PAX East 2010: Late March

Bethesda's London Showcase: April 20

E3 2010: June 15-17

PAX 2010: Late August

TGS 2010: September 16-19

VGA 2010: December

But it isn't known whether or not Bethesda will be attending any of those, with the exception of the showcase of course.

Where did you hear about a showcase?

I suppose that they would be required to show something, considering it would be their own show and what not. I guess that means we're guaranteed to see at least something by the time of the showcase.

It's where they announced Fallout: New Vegas last year. I'm just assuming that they'll be having another one this year, around the same time.

Possibly if they're worried about sales. But I doubt it.

Indeed it could if they believe the games would steal sales, although I doubt that due to the different nature of the games, although them being in the same franchise definitely could impact sales.
