Cumulative Speculation related to TES:V

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:38 am

I wonder what the plotline of the new TES:V will be... It has a very very good chance to be epic. I mean.. the Empire is falling, Mehrunes Dagon got his ass handed to him and got banished by a flamin' golden dragon.

I guess we shall have to wait and see... :cryvaultboy:

Since Pete said it will be a while before we hear anything about the next big game, I'd agree with a Q1/Q2 2010 announcement. E3 2010 is June 15-17. So, basically, the deadline for an announcement (TES V or another game) is the last day of E3 2010. The odds of no announcement by then is astronomical. Almost everyone agrees with this, right?

That made 0 sense. There is no deadline.

i think he means that, bc E3 announces every big release, that if they didnt by E3'10, well lets just not think about that...

Also, the last thing I want to do is play a TES game that makes me wave my arms around like an idiot. I get enough of that on my Wii...

I couldnt give a crap about the motion plus camera thingy magigy but I like the "Milo" AI that Peter Moleneux was working on, I want that for every NPC in a future TES title.

It is an artificial deadline. Of course, it's possible that Beth won't announce their next big game until after E3 2010... but really, what are the odds of that. Not very likely.

Oh but come now, 'a while' rings about two to three years in my reckoning. We will see, I suppose.

In any case, I hope the PC version isn't just a badly ported console version this time... Sigh.

I discovered something about TESV in an odd way: I saw an article about Gears of War 3.

Let me explain before you try and murder me.

On IGN, the article says that Gears 3 will not be released until next gen. It goes one to say that means a "four to five year wait" from now. That means that unless Bethesda skimps on their flagship series for another four to five full years from today it will be released on hardware they already know how to use. This makes me happy.

@Nighthawk: This comes from a xbox 360 gamer, I hope to god that it is like Morrowind, a well-crafted PC game ported wholesale to consoles with an interface change.

Agreed.... I really hope they go back to the Morrowind formula for TesV instead of mainstreaming it for cash...

Just wondering, how long was it between Oblivion was first announced and the actual Release Date of the Game in Marsh 2006?

I think they announced it in 2004.

It was announced in Sep 2004. It was actually intended to be released in November 2005, but there were delays.

let me add something to this first. By four or five years from today, that does mean seven or eight years total between games. Just in case you didn't want to do the math. So yeah, probably gonna be this generation instead of that.

Agreed.... I really hope they go back to the Morrowind formula for TesV instead of mainstreaming it for cash...

I'd personally like them to do something completely new and innovative, but if they have to go back to an old formula I'd rather the daggerfall/Morrowind one than the Arena/Oblivion one.

Alright, so I saw the Skyrim website. It's not a real business. I went through the links, found the Google group, etc.

I went ahead and checked everything I could think of.

The site was registered on February 23, 2006 by Skyrim. Oddly enough, Oblivion came out just under a month later.
http://www.whois.net/whois/skyrim.com

I went ahead and got the address to the business and looked it up. It brought me to a small complex that hosted small businesses in Daytona Florida.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=google%20maps&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3a%6ffficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl

Oddly enough, they are not listed there. Slayton Communications was, however. So that sort of made me wonder if it was possibly a name change due to the trademarks and this was all for nothing. But a quick check showed that Slayton had been in business for three years.
http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_04cfcl

The address and phone number do not match up either. It says that they make $57k a year and only have one person working there. Slayton also happens to be the name of a ship in a Star Trek:TNG novel. A quick search for the actual Slayton hq brought me to a residential neighbourhood in Port Orange.
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF-8&q=Slayton+Communications+port+orange&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Slayton+Communications&hnear=port+orange&cid=5266599991758012804&li=lmd

I'm getting a little Zapruder here, but it's kinda funny how this is all wrapping together.

Three theories:
A) Bethesda has created one hell of a cover. Slayton Communications was created to buy Skyrim.com without it being linked to Bethesda. They couldn't create Skyrim as their business name, because they needed availability for the trademark down the road. They did all of this to cover their tracks and make sure that everything is cop-acetic for their release of Skyrim.

B) Slayton is a real business, but everything else is true.

C) I'm a little crazy and am reading far too into this like a conspiracy nut.

THats some fine detective work. Oh, and bethesda isn't named after a city, its an anagram for ther real person who started it, named Seth Beda.

Yeah.

TGS will take place at the end of the week (09/24-27).
Expect some news very soon. And I am not convinced it won't be TES5

Well its been a month, and TGS is coming to a close. Has anyone heard anything at all?

The article i read was not from ING. What i read was that the newest Unreal game engine in development for Gears of war will not be used until the next gen. However, a new Gears of war on the current engine is still possible.

well, the one I saw said that the next gears game would use that engine, and therefore be on the next gen systems.

Well now I wouldn't go that far until the two month mark.
