Bethesda Softworks/ZeniMax have a separate team to work on an MMO though.

BGS would still work on Single Player games

It doesn't matter as the world is still the same and every change in lore would have to be included in the original series.

Guess I'm not the only one as well, then.

Remember they said don't expect to hear anything about the major project they are working on for a while, too.

Yup I know. But it's possible (though pretty unlikely) that they (Pete?) just said that so we would be all shocked when it's announced.

Like every time this comes up, I am forced to remind myself before saying "OMG [censored]BIRDS ARE ABANDONING TES!" that "a while" is vague, and when a PR guy says 'a while" then it is deliberately so. Hell, when you're waiting for the pizza guy, ten minutes is 'a while."

Enough of the MMO talk....

I agree with the above post, "Awhile" can be anything, it could be tommorrow, it could be 2011.

I doubt that photo (going back a few pages) is legit as it doesn't seem to be moving in the same general direction as any video game I've ever seen.

Also, I have a top of the line machine (Crisis on top everything :)) and there's no way my computer would run anything that beautiful.

I don't think the skyrim website is a front, I think Beth is trying to buy the rights out from under them though.

Yeah, we need another Julian Lefay, not another Tod Howard.

@ lammamomma: Lefay was worth ten Todds, and it has nothing to do with Todd's skill level (which is still amazing), but Arena and Daggerfall (what little I've been able to play them on Dosbox) are superior in almost every way to MW and OB, the main thing keeping them from being my favorites (my favorite being OB) is the technology. Having been first introduced to MW and the OB graphics at the 16 bit level seem to bother me, and also the non-radiant AI (thank you OB!) also bothers me.

@Arganoth: A few pages back there was a link to a pic that was supposedly a screen shot from TES V. IMO the feel of it isn't right, it's almost TOO grand, also the moss is sorta horrible looking.

Yeah, I've seen the pic. Not sure if it's legit or not. There's alot of debate over it, but I suppose, if it's going to be another couple years or more before this game is released then I suppose it could be. Who knows, maybe some kid just photo-shopped something and put it up on the net just for kicks.

There was a specific program mentioned on some forums that that picture was created by the program. Unfortunately I don't remember what the name of it is, but I looked at pictures made by that program and they look very similar in style to this alleged leaked ESV screenshot.

Interesting. Would be nice to find out. I have seen this pic on several sites though, so not sure where it originally came from.

I think I'm at my waiting limit. I don't think I can care about TES anymore. I still love Oblivion but I won't wait for the next one like freakin Penelope(The Odyssey). I had a dream about TES 5 and it was too beautiful, but I woke up ever so annoyed. And now I found this from Todd's most recent interview
So we really wanted to use him to take the world of The Elder Scrolls and make it even better. He's fleshed out a lot of stuff that we never have.
Which means to all of the lore heavy fans that they might make some drastic changes. So should we give up hope or be patient and wait?

Memphis, seriously chill, just remember (more wait = better game), try a couple of other games, MGS4 Resistance 2 are wicked if you have the PS3, try learning the CS, learn a new language, use your time so you don't feel like you are actually 'waiting'.

You copy paste, I copy paste :P

Very true, but i think a lot of people would feel much better if an announcement was made. Then they could move on to other things.

If an announcement was made, then moving on would be the last thing to happen. The forum would be swamped with speculation regarding the new announcement, in an attempt to glean as much information as possible from it. Once it's been talked about, interpreted, misinterpreted, churned around, and used to predict how the final game will be received, people will start getting desperate for more announcements and information.

Just check this thread and Kotaku every other day for 10 minutes. If there's any news, announcements, or updates, you'll hear about them. Otherwise, you can get on with life.

Who knows. It was simply posted on some forum with a simple message I believe that said something like, "Merry Christmas" or something. I forgot.

I don't think it's real anyway. There's a program that can make landscape pictures such as this.
nice looking graphics, i really doubt its from tes v

I agree with what you are saying. What I meant was that an announcement confirming it being in development and a time frame for release, would put all of the doubt out of everyone's mind. I am quite sure this game will happen at some point, but will it be 1 year from now, or 5? Who knows.

Then history will b cursed to repeat itself, they did do that in oblivion, you know what happened, the developers were forced to finish the game early, with lots of quests and themes left out, that would happen again, just from any hint by the devs.

So, who forced them to finish the game early? It was already delayed from it's original release date.

I think the phrase, "bit off more than they could chew" would fit nicely. There was so much they wanted to do, but their deadline came, went, and then they had to release.

Exactly. So I suggest we just leave them to it. I'd rather they announce something when they feel they're ready to, rather than see them rush out a release estimate because some of their fans are clamouring for one.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I can't wait that long, but do agree with waiting longer for a better, more polished product.

....and actually, if it's going to be farther out then say a 2012 release, I personally believe they risk losing some of their fan base. That gives them 6 years, which should be enough time to put out a well thought out, polished product.
