Would they really make a bunch of merchandise, as mentioned in the trademark, for a mere handheld game?

No, they would not. It is in the realm of impossible to be possible.

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/id-Software-Zenimax-Prey-Game,8621.html is an interesting article that may offer some insight into Bethesda's development schedule. At this point, this news is far too recent to cause Bethesda to alter their current cycle, but it could affect future development decisions as they may relate to TES series.

I predict, as in the article, that ID will likely pick up this IP.

In a recent interview with Emil Pagliarulo, he said that they were working on something super exciting and secret. Good thing to know they're excited for it.

I highly doubt Zenimax would use the skill & manpower at Bethsda to develop a carpy handheld game. Waste of skills and money, even tho they probly have loads of money after FO3.

Edit: why is this photo(see link) said to bee a screen of TESV on many forums? Can anyone tell me where it comes from? Maybe another game?

Who knows. It was simply posted on some forum with a simple message I believe that said something like, "Merry Christmas" or something. I forgot.

I don't think it's real anyway. There's a program that can make landscape pictures such as this.

I personally think it's highly logical to announce The Elder Scrolls V in late 09, or early 10. The reason is because Fallout 3 was announced 1 year and 2 months after Oblivion was released I believe. December is 1 year and 2 months after Fallout 3 was released. And also, Bethesda isn't working on an expansion pack as large as Shivering Isles for Fallout 3. I think it's reasonable to assume TESV will be announced shortly after the first book is released.

I hope you are right. The only reason for joining the forums is TES V. I'm not sure how much more I can wait for news on TES V

First off...welcome to the forums!

Second...I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that it could be announced soon, but I'm not certain it's a probability. Unless Bethesda has grown their team considerably, an announcement this fall with a 2010 release doesn't fit within their normal development cycle. Certainly not impossible, but improbable in my opinion.

I was under the impression that the team that developed Oblivion is separate from the other teams, like the one that developed Fallout 3. The team should be in place already and should have had quite some time to get a story line, a basic engine to use, and a good start on delvelopment. How long has it been since the last expansion for Oblivion? It's been long enough for the things I mentioned to take place, or at least it should have been long enough.

From what I understand, both Oblivion and Fallout were developed by the same team (sort of). Toward the end of Oblivion's development, a few individuals started working on Fallout. Once it went gold, the teams were split; one to work on Fallout, and the other to support Oblivion and create DLC. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'm about 65% sure it won't be announced soon, but I definitely leave room for the possibility of an announcement.

Actually, there were already a few people working on Fallout 3 while Oblivion began full production. While Oblivion's development began to close, most of the developers switched to Fallout 3.

ESV, right now which is most likely their next big project, has been in full production for almost a year already. They've been tinkering with ESV's engine while Fallout 3 was in full production, and now they've been getting into the meat of the game.

How do you know this? Or is this just a guess based on previous Bethesda games?

Meant with respect, I'd really like to know if there is some special insight here. Thanks.

Speculation, methinks. We do know from the horses' mouth that they are working on a new in-house big title, but they haven't given any word as to what that title is. Naturally, most here assume that big title is TES:V, going off past precedent with how Fallout 3 was in pre-production whilst TES:IV was in full produciton. Just extending the pattern to predict the future. After all, the only in-house IPs that Bethesda Game Studios really has rights to are Fallout and TES, and I'd be insanely surprised if their newest in-house game is a brand-new IP.

It's only obvious. It's what Bethesda does. Once one of their games is released, they start full production on their next title. What else do you think they are doing?? Certainly most of the developers weren't working on Fallout 3 DLC.

They could be working on Fallout 4. Or a new title.

Or just partying :run: :intergalactic: :dmc:

Seeing as how the Skyrim trademark is continuing to be active and reactivated, I assume they're working on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Also the post from you I was referring to had more details, such as they were working on the ESV engine during Fallout 3 and now they are moving to the meat. How do we know that they still aren't tinkering with the engine.

I'm not arguing with you or criticizing you. What you post seems like very reasonable speculation. I was just looking to see if there is anything more firm out there to get my hopes up.

Thanks.

Oh boy...if either one of those turns out to be true, expect a murder in the news the day after F4 is released

"HEADLINE NEWS, Todd Howard of Bethesda Studios and the rest of the team working on F4 have been found dead in the studio floor 1 day after the release of F4, after interviewing the murderer he had this to say, "FOR THE EMPEROR!!!" (blades quote) Inscribed with the dev team's blood were the words 'Blades' 'TES' 'Sithis' 'Umaril' and 'Sheogorath' all written in the daedric language."

Naaaah dev's i'm just kidding (or am I :stare:)

EDIT:

Wasn't sure whether to go with the blades quote or the ever popular "By Azura, by Azura!" Anybody got better ideas?

Maybe they were still tinkering with the engine after Fallout 3's release. Maybe they still are too a small degree. But it's reasonable to assume they've got most of the aspects of the engine down, which may include Umbra and Lightsprint (I hope). It's also reasonable to assume that they've been in full production since Fallout 3's release, even though maybe they still tweaked a couple of things about the engine. I'm sure they are tweaking and adding some kinds of code for the game right now.

Has anyone done a copy right check on this? Surely they would have all projects protected, so any new, shekret IPs would be listed too... I'm no legal whiz though.
