Cumulative Speculation related to TES:V

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:59 am

The creation of this thread is to keep speculated information of future TES series in one place. As quoted:
I decided to start a thread specifically to compile known information relevant to, or possibly pertaining to TES:V. Everything is still definitely speculative, and I have seen these forums light ablaze amidst even the tiniest of rumors.

From my own research, this is what I've found:

List of all Zenimax trademarks (Including Skyrim), Official database: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=tess&state=4010:i8ai62.1.1 (You will need to search for Zenimax, be sure to change the field to Owner Name)

UESP Speculation Page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:The_Future_of_TES_Games

Gameindustry.biz announcement: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/bethesda-pencils-in-new-elder-scrolls-title-for-2010

What all does this tell us? Absolutely nothing new that I can tell, but maybe you all know something I don't, and can read further between these lines ;)

More recent interviews of note:
April 27th, 2009: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/974/974529p1.html
June 25th, 2009: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=24211 (particularly this quoted part)
Any chance, and this could be out there, that somewhere down the line we could see a jointly-created game, or is it safe to assume products will be separate?

PH: I don't think so. They're building up their teams, and they already have four amazing brands they're working on. So they already have enough titles to work on that they own. On the flip side, Todd [Howard] and his team have their hands full with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

August 14th, 2009: http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/08/14/quakecon-2009-todd-howard-keynote-highlights/
August 17th, 2009: Pete clarify many things of what happen in QuakeCon in this blog: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2009/08/17/clarifying-about-next-elder-scrolls-game-mmo-etc/

Also, the first Elder Scrolls Novel, http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017, and it's release date, November 24th, 2009.

PLEASE NOTE: AS PER MODERATOR REQUESTS IN THE PREVIOUS THREAD, PLEASE CONFINE THIS DISCUSSION TO SPECULATION TO BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS / TES:V. DISCUSSION OF ZENIMAX ONLINE STUDIOS PROJECTS OR AN ES MMO SHOULD GO IN http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=978995

Now start speculating. :toughninja:

The Books and the Skyrim thing......................
Thats pretty much it, I cant think of anything else.
And Todd gave the impression that ESV wont be out for a while but he is given that impression before and then boom we got ES.

I think it's the new wii game that bethesda is making.
I have a hunch that they'll announce ESV in October/November like they did with Oblivion.

I agree, I bet we will see a screenshot or something like that (very subtle teaser of sorts) around the holidays (probably December or so)

Then maybe a real trailer around summer 2010.

If TESV is revealed to be a Wii game, I shall cut out my broken heart with a Wii mote, and send a bloodied sliver of it on the hour every hour to Bethesda game studios, with each piece having the words 'I HATE YOU' carved into it with a rusty spoon.

Once i've recovered, i'll probably return to this forum and start reading through the inevitable line of threads titled: Cumulative Speculation related to TES:VI.

Bethesda are not making a Wii game. They didn't mean to make one, they meant to publish some, and they are.

Didn't I read somewhere that gamesas has no intention of publishing a TES game for the wii? Besides if they did you'd know that its game you should pass. Not I'm disparaging the wii, its just that the hardware limitations wouldn't be able to handle a next gen game of the caliber that TES:V is liable to be.

Minor panic attack over then.

Besides, I also remember Todd saying in his Planet Elder Scrolls interview that the graphical elements of TES titles were the most important part to him, since they lend so much to the immersion of the game. That comment bodes well for the inclusion of full shadows, and preventing rain falling through bridges in TESV. Now if only they can find a way to allow more than 6 or 7 NPCs on screen at once without halving the frame-rate.

I personally think it's highly logical to announce The Elder Scrolls V in late 09, or early 10. The reason is because Fallout 3 was announced 1 year and 2 months after Oblivion was released I believe. December is 1 year and 2 months after Fallout 3 was released. And also, Bethesda isn't working on an expansion pack as large as Shivering Isles for Fallout 3. I think it's reasonable to assume TESV will be announced shortly after the first book is released.

They make TES V a wii game... May Mehrunes Dagon torture them for all eternity. That'd be alot better than what we'd do. *thinks about how he'd use real life restore health spells to keep them alive so they can be tortured over-and-over-and-over-and-over*

I sure hope so. For the past 2 years it's been nothing but speculation threads and wild guesses of the where and when of TES V. If Bethesda would just give us a screenie and a release estimate, those threads would end and we could move on to more interesting discussions. I don't care if it's 2 years off, looking forward to the release is the best part.

I'm about 75% sure we won't see anything yet this year, but about 100% really hoping I'm wrong. ^_^

Thanks for that.

No, it wouldn't end, it would then be speculation about all the different things that'll come from guessing by the picture, from graphics, to AI to skill systems, it'll soon go to things which have little to do with screenshot things like voice-acting, if you don't believe me you haven't been on this thread forum for very long, i'be only been here since summer and already can guess the personality of the forums.

yeah, basically this will happen, but at least we'd be speculating about real somethings. For example, we could easily see any graphical improvements they've made, as well as a few of any major changes they would have done on whatever was shown. Also, a hint at the general tone and aesthetic. But you are right, just see if anyone will be willing to tell you about pre-Oblivion forums in 2005.
