Ca't cure radiation sickness

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2015 6:10 pm

New to the fallout series with fallout 4 so i apologize if this is a dumb question. So Ive tried radaway and doctor and my radiation sickness wont go away. I travel to a new settlement (all radiation free zones) and it goes away, but as soon as I get into or out of a power armor, the radiation sickness comes back. Could i be carrying something that gives me rad sickness? Is the armor contaminated? Beyond frustrated at this point.

You sure it is radiation sickness? Radiation is when some of your health turns red, and thus limits your pool of HP's. Drug addiction or some disease, from molerats for example, could be the culprit.

Im sure its radiation sickness. Im at +12 rads without the hazmat suit and +2 with it. Go to the doctor in diamond city and try and cure it. Pay my caps, but still stuck with the +2 or +12 rads ad a half available health bar.

Rad sickness as in a direct hit to you health bar? Both radaway and any Doc can cure that. Now if you are speaking of the animation in your pip-boy when you check your stats and the smiley guy isn't smiling but looks kinda dopey that is another matter entirely. For that all I can say is - "Drugs are bad.....M'Kay."

Next time you go to a Doc get a cure for addictions.

So just say no to drugs and pass them to me....

Well, sounds like a bug then. If your on PC, might try look for a console command to remove radiation, and see if that helps.

I hear ya my man! Ive tried everything and still have the +2 or +12 rads on my screen. It slowly ticks down my health even after visitng the doc or use radaway! Ive tried for over 2 hours to resolve this issue, but to no avail! I figure its a bug and i thought it would eventually work itself out, but alas no luck! Ill just keep at it. Hopefully it works itself out soon!

Tried the age old turning it off and on again? Also sometimes going in to the radiation and leaving it can fix it.

Same problem here. If I fast travel to another location stops it. Power armor seems to start it back up again

Yeah exiting or entering power armor seems to be the trigger for me. Can do the work around and fast travel to a new area to stop the rads from increasing, but it's rather inconvenient to say the least.

I am on PS4 and just started having this problem yesterday. I got into a set of Power Armor that I have had for a week and started hearing the rad damage sound. I got out of the armor and noticed I was taking +10 rads of damage. I fast travelled and that stopped the rad damage. Now everytime I get into any power armor I start taking +10 rad damage. I read on another forum that taking level one of the Aquaboy perk (I think that is the name) fixes the bug that is causing this issue. I am going to try it this evening when I get my next level. If Aquaboy doesn't fix it then there is no reason for me to have power armor. I had 80ish hours into the game when this bug started.

Sorry to hear you are having the same issue, but at least I can stop combing through my inventory and pulling my hair out knowing I'm not alone! I'll give that a try too.

The first rank of Aquaboy appears to have fixed the problem on my end. I was able to get into all of my sets of power armor with no Rad damage. As they said on the post I read, it svcks that you have to use a point in a worthless perk to be able to use your power armor. Oh well.

Definitely sounds like a bug. At least I hope it is because otherwise your Fusion Core is leaking into your power armour! :shocking:

Been fun reading this thread. I took both levels of aquaboy a long time ago and have had no regrets. It's a lovely perk, not a lot to do in the water but I have a feeling DLC will touch on that.

Yeah, I make sure to take at least the first aqua perk. Water is a great place to lose hordes of stingwings, nasty tempered Supermutants, and feral mutts. There are amazing things in the water too... too bad it's so hard to see them.

This sounds like a very peculiar bug. If possible, maybe record this with Action, Fraps or Bandicam and let Bethesda take a look at it.

Edit: My bad, I just noticed that you got it fixed.

Yep the solution is definitely 1 point in Aquaboy. Props to whomever figured that one out. Now back to playing the game without all the extra steps to cure the radiation sickness.

Except that it is still a bug and Bethesda should be made aware of it. I hope someone has notified them.

I submitted a ticket this AM. Hopefully they will fix it so others don't have to try and figure out why they all of a sudden start taking rad damage from their Power Armor.

Palan - I thought the same thing (leaking Fusion Core) so I took all of the partial cores out of my inventory and only used a full one but the problem still occurred.

Neil - good point on using water to avoid Stingwings and other nuisance mobs.

Yep once I somehow picked up a permanent RAD exposer that was giving me a +5 RAD count no matter what I did. I had to go back to a previous save to fix it.

You got radioactive water on the inside of your power armor, hence the aquaboy perk fixes it.... really though, it seems to be a bug, perhaps relating to the game thinking you are still underwater in power armor after going through water once? if so then getting into, then out of "swiming depth" water while in the power armor might reset it, without needing to take a perk (that I find very useful to have regardless)
