A curious question about lore

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:12 pm

In Area,Daggerfall..basically any game before Morrowind was the whole Dunmer/Chimer thing known? Like could you read about Dagoth Ur, the Tribunal etc? Or was that lore added when Morrowind came out?

Also, w/e happend to Caius Cosades? The blades agent you meet in Morrowind. After he leaves for business back in the Imperial City..as far as I know you never hear about him again

That means he's doing his job well.

Morrowind is generally considered to be when the series as a whole went from being a Lord of the Rings knock-off to a real distinct and individual world with its own history. So in answer to your first question, yes it was added in Morrowind, a whole lot was.

And in answer to your second question in the switch from the minimalist voice acting of Morrowind to the ubiquitous (and often god awful) fully voiced world Caius' voice actor was dropped, thus his character got the bridge dropped on him.

There's links on the Imperial Library site for all the Arena and Daggerfall books. There aren't all that many, so it shouldn't be all that hard to find information on Morrowind and the Chimer/Dunmer if it exists.

The Dunmer/Chimer thing was never mentioned. Dagoth Ur was just the name of Red Mountain. I feel like maybe there was some reference to Morrowind having mortal gods, but that might just be my poor memory.

Basically, that lore was all added with Morrowind.
