Curious who liked becoming a vampire?

Post » Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:18 am

I personally hated it and tried to do everything not to become one. it was to much work having to feed every night then u would try doing a quest during the day and start to fry then you would have to wait for night then thats the only time you could do stuff and if u bite the wrong person u would get in trouble then i tried to cure myself but my game had the glitch were i couldnt give the lady the last ingredient. lol those are my reasons curious how other people feel about it? If it is in skyrim i hope its way better and not as annoying

I had no problem. First thing I did was to deliveratly get infected by one. Gameplay was alright, but it could of been better and more lore-oriented. The Cyrodilic vampires were baddass, according to lore. They deceived, manipulated and even eradicated all clans from Cyrodiil, making them the only vampire clan in the Imperial Province. Every other province has many other vampires, but Cyrodiil just has "The Order". It would be better if Bethesda followed lore and added vampire-related quests from a vampire's perspetive. The only quest that matched the criteria was "Information at a Price." where you had to destroy an invading clan of vampires that made their home in Bloodcrust Cavern.

I have a lot of complaints about the vampires in Oblivion but they were pretty fun if you role played hardcoe with them. No fast travel is a must.

I liked having powerful Mage vampires myself.

Nope, I have and will always hate vampires. I joined the vampire-hunting guild in Oblivion, the order of the virtuous blood. I will never be a vampire in a TES game. I hope their is a vampire-hunting guild in Skyrim.

Same then I found the GOTY edition PS3 bug where I had to change my game Language to German for the woman to accept bloodgrass then realising it wiped my shivering isles progress then I tried to do the first quest again and found out that it gave me two of the same quest item so I couldn't advance any further in shivering isles :/ :/ :/

I had a fun time with it, in reality vampirism is suppose to svck but it's been glamorized by popular media... being an undead creature of the night is a curse.

Not all the time. Killing stupid humans works like a charm.

I did it once in MW to do the clan quests and cure, but completely avoided it after that. The limitations are just too much to make the rest of the game enjoyable. I never even tried it in OB.

It was cool but it had too many limitations, and the blood drinking seemed backwards, you should get stronger not weaker when you do that.

It was alright as a small side quest, but TBH I wouldn't keep a character as a vampire unless they made it more than just added tedium and a few extra quests, which I don't expect since TES isn't focused around vampirism like say Vampire: Bloodlines. If we got a good number of unique dialogue options, sizable faction(s), and a more distinct set of powers - not just spells we could already cast - then I'd consider having a dedicated vampire character.

Not in Tamriel.

The idea is that vampirism brings you closer to the undead and this is where you get your power from. Drinking blood will bring you closer to the living, so your undead advantages (and disadvantages) will wane. The lust for blood is, taking the lore into account, partially because being undead is so intolerable (it is a curse).

Other vampires feed and get stronger, but for the Cyrodilic vampires it's reversed. Since they made a pact with Clavicus Vile to be able to walk in the sun and blend in society undected, they had to have a price. For them to achieve true phisical strength, they had to starve themselves for 72 hours, but by doing so their vampiric nature was pretty much evident.

It ruined my friends game in oblivion for a few days. Instead of doing quests like he wanted to, he was forced to do a lengthy cure quest

Can you link the source on this?

All I can find is the a Manifesto Cyrodiil Vampyrum and it makes no mention of Clavicus 'reversing' their vampiric stage. It just says "his guidance steels our savage craving with reason and savvy".

If the cyrodiilic clan actually had some fleshing out, there would have been vampire-exclusive quests exploring vampire politics and survival, almost like in MW and maybe DF.

However, it was a lost opportunity. So sad.

Amiki, it's called reasonable deductions based on the facts provided. From what it seems, Clavacus Vile's pact weakens the vampiric curse, making the vampire less like a vampire when fed and more like their former self. However, because the curse is weakened, so does all the benefits and consequences.

Normally, vampires are fugly 24/7, and being forced to live away from society, or else face termination. With the Cyrodiilic Clan, it's very likely they do not mind losing some strength in order to hid in plain sight amongst their food, and be able to direct their food against potential competitors.
