This is an excellent question... I'd like to know the answer myself! Also will the secessionist areas use the same currency as the Imperial areas?

Mead! :foodndrink:

Seriously though, I wouldn't have a clue. They might simply go with 'Gold' (even though it sounds a bit corny and lacks originality). I'm hoping for something related to the Nordic culture though :)

Bottle caps.. damn wrong forum.
Bottle caps, yes I know but come on bottle caps are great.

Seriously, materials are the norm now'a days, Gold, silver, copper, platinum.

If we get lucky maybe something along the lines of Sovereign, penny, bit.

Something Nordic? Squirrel pelts! That would be totally awesome. We used to have them as currency in Finland in the Viking era.

Damn, can you imagine? Bethesda just passed the game 200 years forward, that means cultures, races, languages, everything will be different, they have to think their lore over and actually assume how things could role 200 years to the future from where Oblivion ended! New ways of trading, behaviors and different treatments, and ofcourse a new coin!

Sure, it would be easier to just make 1 coin like Septims, but if there could be like... you know, in WoW: Gold's the most valuable coin, afterwards 100 Silver is worth 1 Gold coin and then 100 Copper is worth 1 Silver coin... would be cool to have it included in the game, but then again it wouldn't ruin my experience.

I think they should keep "Septim" as respect to the bloodline, personally I'd like caps too :fallout: lol

On a similar note, who will be enforcing the law? or making the law? In a secessionist setting, it might be intereting to have two separate jurisdictions. If you break a law in one city, then you can find refuge in another that won't try to arrest you.

ISK ! thats norse enough, altho i think since most of the scandinavian countries use a currency called Krónur or Kronas or kroner or whatever... how about a currency called Crown/Koruna/Krona/Krone
but this is not based on the real world, so how about sticking to Drakes ?

that would be cool, and fitting since they are under a civil war

Just as before, it'll be named for the family that rules over all.

Shopkeeper: "Okay, that'll be 153 Howards."

;)

Just in case it wasn't obvious enough- no, I've no idea. :)

i think they need to revamp their economy, like have 100 coppers equal a silver, 100 silvers equal a gold. The economy in oblivion was so screwy, i think teh average working smo make like half a gold a week, 200 years is a perfect time to change things up lol

They will probably stay Septims untill a new ruler is in place, then they can be called Franks, Chucks, or Henry's or whoever is in charge.

Other names could be; Dockets (from some comp game I remember playing as a kid), Gald, Coins, credits, plunks, shiny disks of commerce, I dunno, not feeling very creative at the moment.

Has to be gold. Being an high school economics teacher I always find systems of money in games interesting. In fact (and in case you are interested) gold is what is called commodity money. That is it is valuable simply because of what it is made of. Compare that to our money (in the United States). The money itself is worth nothing because it is obviously paper and ink, known as fiat money (that's your economics lesson for the day). If septims were not made of gold they would become worthless. But since they are, that type of money is still valuable. Either way it will be interesting to see what they use. Unlike fallout, bottle caps would not be possible to use as currency. Lesson #2. Money has to have 4 properties... It must be, uniform, portable, durable, and divisible. Bottle caps meet all of the criteria except for the last one. Bottle caps were not divisible. Okay, lesson over...
