[WIPz] Cursed

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:50 am

After several weeks of on/off work I'm proudly announcing the production of the first mod plug0in for Illiana's Elsweyr. Cursed promises to add an epic journey that not only will take you to every corner of Eslweyr but to many corners of Cyrodiil as well. You will experience a vivid story with a couple memorable new characters and a strong degree of choices and consequences. You'll also get to explore some brand new dungeons built with a brand new tileset, don a handful of shiny new armours and wield some tricky new spells. But I really don't want to give too much away just yet.

As of right now I have no idea exactly how long the quest will be but my goal is at least 2 hours. I can't exactly give an estimate for a release date either but I can promise you that it will be worth whatever wait.

****Story Spoilers Area****
So far the story isn't terribly defined.
Spoiler
However at this point the story will focus heavily on the lost tomb of an ancient Elsweyrian king. Your quest begins when you are hired by Mo'Sah ,an indebted khajiit, to find an ancient artifact that he must use to pay off his gambling loses.

Nov. 14th

Spoiler
After retrieving the artifact you are asked to oversee the exchange. The result leads you to a historian who specializes in the artifact(s). Then the rest of the bulk of the main quest is free form artifact hunting, relying on clues from the historian and information from Mo'Sah.

Better words to use are "an indebted khajiit".

YES! This is what I always envision from modding, adding to already existing mods. We have a few project that invites modders to add to a already made world; Underdark, The Other Spheres and expansions such as Illianas Elsweyr Beta.

Good on you :hehe:

Cheers!

Hostile much? It's only a simple spelling mistake some you can chill out a little. At least I'm making the effort to check for my typos unlike a good portion of the internet's population.

Cool screens! This is definitely something to look foreward to. I always (well, usually at least) enjoy new quests. Are you, by any chance, thinking of releasing that tileset as a resource? :D

Thanks! :D I intend all of the content created or modified by me to be a resource in the final product.

On another note I was hoping for some input here. I was debating weather or not the final product should have all it's meshes and textures in a BSA opposed to just just folders.

Why not offer both options? Depending on how big the file is (and it looks like this one will be BIG), it might be faster for others to download a BSA and then unpack, as opposed to just downloading the folders. But some might prefer to download the folders already unpacked.

Interesting.

Since Illiana's mod is a plugin, not a master, how are you getting it so your plugin plays nicely with hers?

I just used Wrye Bash and ESMified her .esp I had some trouble at first but the key is to load it ESMified, make a small change to the ESMified plugin and then save. But you have to re-ESPify it before playing.

That sounds great! I particularly like the look of the Argonian's armour. Elsweyr is a great mod, but doesn't have enough quests to take you through the land. I like the thought of it taking you through Elsweyr and Cyrodiil.

Thanks! Though I will point out that it's not an Argonian, it's a Skaven. :P

It's ok. :P But no that race won't likely be included. Unless I can find a place for it as an enemy in part of the questline.

Uglulyx,

as I am using Elsweyr in my game, your work will be more than a welcome addition mate.

The fact that you will be utilizing both worldspaces (cyrodiil / elsweyr) has pros & cons:

On the one hand it will dramatically raise immersion, giving the feeling of unity in the world and on the other hand there might arise compatibility problems as the cyrodiil part is already overcrowded.

anyway, I am looking forward to tasting the outcome of your efforts :foodndrink:

Yes I had considered that, the additions to Cyrodiil won't be very big though, nothing the size of a new dungeon.
