Custom Faces

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:55 pm

O hai!

I'm trying to play Daggerfall, but the lack of descent faces turns me off.
Has someone made some nice ones?
I have the CD version, if it helps.

Many thanks,

He means modding isn't possible in Daggerfall. Well, it is to an extent, but not in this department.

I was certain projects existed, aiming to add "art" to the game.
I'll verify my sources, but I'm almost convinced I'm right.
I was just asking if there were any interesting packs.

Back with you in a moment's time.

Not true. There is a program I used a few years back called "DagPicG" that allows you to open the files that contain sprites and textures, and the faces are among these. I would add things like earrings and tattoos to character portraits, but unfortunately I didn't save the files.

If you want to look among the few things people have made available, google the UESP's old downloads section (not the wiki).

I think skeletonman (sp?) made a skull face to go with the lich mod he made. I think it was him anyway :)

Look up the Andyfall mod. It adds alot of new faces, adds some new armors, and changes some ingame sprites as well. There's a few others, but Andyfall is
the most popular, or atleast the one that is reccomended by most.

*edit*

Nvmd, looks like you found it yourself already. x.x;

You can use http://www.svatopluk.com/daggerfall/download/andypic.stm (yes! Made by the creator of AndyFall) to swap out the various graphics in the game's TEXTURE.### files. It's a command line program, so you should run it through DOSBox. The included readme gives plenty of examples so I'm not going to go into much detail as to how it's used. Of course, each TEXTURE.### of several hundred contains upwards of twenty sprites, so how do you know which index you want to replace? I'd suggest using Interkarma's http://www.dfworkshop.net/?page_id=9, which lets you sift through all the files. It's even given most of them names which describe the graphics within.

You can find several custom graphics stashed away http://www.uesp.net/dagger/daggraph.shtml on the old UESP site.
