Custom Race Eyes

Post » Wed Apr 07, 2010 3:51 am

Hey!

I'm trying to get some eyes working on a custom race, but they don't show up in-game for some reason.

The eyes come from Xenius' Race Compilation, I'm not sure what mesh they use.
I created some new eyes in the CS, applied the textures, marked them as playable and placed them in the eyes section for my race.
I have Eyes, Hair, Graphics and NpcFaces for Bash tags.

When I look at the mods in TES4Edit, the Bashed Patch replaces my new eye mesh with the vanilla one and, as a consequence, removes all my added eyes from the race's options.
I looked at Xenius' mod as well, it has the same tags, but that one goes through the Bashed Patch for some reason. I'm not sure why though.

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers!

Edit: Here's two pics showing the TES4Edit entries:

P.S. Do you know what head meshes that mod uses? I thought it was throttlekitty's hot heads, but it's not that one.

Wrye Bash filters out mods that use different eye meshes. You need to use the Vanilla eyes meshes.

Edit: Oh, new race... Have you tried taking "Characters" off the path?

Edit: I do not think it should need the Eyes tag...

Thanks for the reply!

I can't remove characters from the path as my mod is under meshes/characters/AnticipationOfShadow, textures/characters/AnticipationOfShadow. Xenius' is under meshes/00_Xenius and textures/00_Xenius respectively.

I only added the "eyes" tag because XRC had it. I'll try it without it and see what happens.

Cheers!

edit: the new eyes are still not showing up in game. I don't have the time right now to run another tes4edit filter unfortunately, but my guess is that the mesh doesn't make it past the Bashed Patch for some reason.

Keep 'em coming please :)

Have you tried moving your meshes out of the "Characters" folder? Bash may have some default actions performed based on that location because of the googley eyes issue that results from people mixing the EE mesh and the vanilla mesh using mods.

Hey!

Tried that too, but it didn't solve the problem. Something else did, however.

It turns out I had to remove all the vanilla eyes from my race for the Bashed Patch to let me keep the new mesh. It does make sense now, that I think about it.

Thanks for the help!

Oh, well Bash filters out the eye meshes, one type per...something... That is what I was trying to explain in my first post, but I was tired, more so than I am now, haha...
