That said, I'd like to see sleep-saves be optional. The rest I think should be required. I want manual saves primarily because of the number of glitches and CTDs that I've experienced with the game. I don't want to lose my last hour of progress because the game crashed and I haven't slept. I think manual saves should be allowed, but in the event of death the saves should roll back to your last sleep-save. I want survival mode to inconvenience my character, but I don't want it to inconvenience me as a player. Restricting manual saves is only going to inconvenience me as a player. It's not going to help me get more immersed in the game.
If it isn't made into an option, then there will be a mod on the Nexus adding manual saves back within an hour of survival mode being released anyway. It makes more sense to just make it optional to me.
I can kind of see an argument for wanting fast travel, but I think that should be disabled as well. Realistically, it's only for the early part of the game. Once you start joining factions you'll get the vertibird signal grenades from the BOS and access to the molecular relay from the Institute. If you destroy both the Institute and the BOS, either the Railroad or the Minutemen will have vertibird signal grenades for you to use. 'Fast travel' will still be in the game, but it's going to be a mechanic that you actually have to earn, rather than something that you can just do without any kind of lore explanation.
